Palin's CBS interview
« on: September 28, 2008, 11:17:04 am »
OK, this may be old news as I'm not sure when the interview aired.  Did you guys watch Palin's interview on CBS?  I just did (youtube) and it was frightening!

I can't believe anyone seriously believes she is ready to be VP and possibly President.  She knows next to nothing about fundamental issues we are currently dealing with.  It's shocking that a more intelligent conversation about the credit crunch can be had on an HIV forum than with a VP candidate.  She rambled on and on about the bailout without even discussing the issue.  She just threw in a bunch of buzz words like- trade, international commerce, finance, small town/middle America, etc. and thought that would do the trick.

I actually felt really sad for Palin.  She looked nervous, if not scared.  She kept repeating the same line over and over again, as if she had been heavily prepped or not prepped enough, I honestly can't tell which.  It was one of the most uncomfortable interviews I have ever seen (blowing away Whitney's show-the-me-receipts-to-prove-I've-taken-drugs Diane Sawyer interview).  I wonder if it's too late for her to resign from the ticket.  Surely there must be a growing number of Republicans openly wondering whether McCain should cut his losses.

Perhaps the only silver lining is not that many people watch CBS evening news.

She (Palin) really just needs to break down and say "I'm not the right candidate for this position."

I'm betting the Republican ticket is going to change before we get to the polls.

I certainly hope not! I want them to FAIL.

Don't misinterpret. I want them to fail, too, but I suspect (and therefore, would bet) the Caribou Barbie Express is pulling into the station for a derailment. I am unwaveringly in Obama's camp.

I actually felt really sad for Palin.  She looked nervous, if not scared.

Nobody forced her to accept the VP offer.  Her own ambition has gotten the better of her.  She must have fully known that she was completely unqualified.

At any rate, this speaks more of McCain's judgement than anything about Ms. Palin, doesn't it?  "Country First!"... hardly.

I'm not sure how Couric kept a straight face.  Perhaps that's why she was blinking so much.

I struggle with Palin resigning.  I can't see how forcing her off the ticket would help McCain, unless she resigned because of a scandal (Troopergate to the rescue).  If McCain takes her off the ticket because of her performance, it makes him look even worse (and probably anger the Christian fundamentalists that support her in droves).  Yet clearly keeping her on the ticket may end up costing him the election and risk angering the moderate Republicans.  Sucks to be him.

I originally thought the VP debate would be a great point to drop her, assuming she puts in a terrible performance.  However I'm not so sure she'll do all that bad, at least in comparison to Biden.  He seems to have a great ability to scratch his throat with his toes.

Can you imagine HER with her legs in the air screaming "fuck me"??? I don't see her do that .

And she probably still tells her children kids grow in cabages...

Really stupid people almost always think they are much smarter than they are. They don't consider the complexities or nuances of a situation, and they think that trusting your gut is superior to analysis and thoughtful consideration of an issue. My bet is that Palin never gave a moment's thought to the question of whether she was qualified to be vice president or president.

Check out the attached photo of Palin "meeting" with Kissinger. What do you think Kissinger was thinking?

To be filed under "All the news fit to be hidden"

Related to the Couric interview, apparently even conservatives are having a fit about Palin's qualifications which the Associated Press penned an article about.  An articlethat Fox News at first picked up as shown by the below screenshots.

Unfortunately the stories must have been pulled by Fox as whenever one tries to access the related article in via either the google news or Fox news links they get an error message of a bad url!

I can just imagine McCain's campaign calling Fox News!  :D :D :D

It was a pathetic interview.  She (Palin) spoke yesterday in Media, Pennsylvania, she was just as pathetic there also, but they were eating that crap up !

This is from the conservative "National Review," which says that Palin "is out of her league":

Probably thinking how strange and pathetic his party has become in the last 25 years.  But then again, he's just a war criminal anyway :)

I watched that interview earlier.  I've got to say the being able to see Russia from her home comment was pretty staggering!

Oh, that line was totally fed to her.  Republicans have been trotting it out every since she was nominated, to the extent that I'd see it on other political message boards by dittoheads.  I'm sure Rush and Laura Ingraham faxed the talking points to RNC headquarters, it's that level of stupid.

But it doesn't matter.  Sarah's just there for the anti-baby killer crowd.  As long as she's not caught on camera eating human flesh the fundies will soak up whatever she spurts out.

This is what politics have come to in The Land of the Free.

Palin is the reflection of the majority of politicians in this country ... which is also closely related to the intelligence of the American public... but, you have to admit... She looks Damn Good!

Um, O.K., whatever.

For the record, as cynical as I am, I disagree that Gov. "Palin is the reflection of the majority of politicians in this country."

Whether Republican or Democrat, they (majority of politicians) can at least present themselves in a manner that suggests they grasp the fundamental issues facing us.  Granted they posture.

Gov. Palin on the other hand, while she "may look damn good", has brought nothing to the table that convinces me she has one iota of understanding.  Any ability to analyze issues to their second or third level.  And when I watched the interview with Couric, like Cliff, I felt sorry for her.

As has been mentioned previously, there is no way in hell Gov. Palin is ready  to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

It isn't a gender issue, it isn't a conservative/liberal issue, it's simply an honest assessment of what I've seen from the Governor.

You might think her "appearance" is the most important factor, I think we've got much broader issues that need serious attention.

Just my thoughts.

All I can say is, if things go really badly, you might end up with Katherine Mayfair as President. But then we might get Boris Johnson.

Whee... Sarah's done yet another Couric interview and was asked about her church's "pray the gay away" approach.

source

Quote
To this end, Palin was far more aggressive in another interview with Couric today, this aide said

Sitting with McCain for their first joint interview a week after the widely panned sit-down with Couric, Palin interjected when the CBS anchor brought up a report about the Wasilla Assembly of God, the governor's childhood church and one she still attends at times, seeking to pray gays away from homosexuality.

"Sarah Barracuda showed up today," the aide said, reprising the feisty former point guard's high school basketball nickname and one that has been largely forgotten since her post-convention cosseting.

"We're encouraging CBS to run entire thing," the aide said of today's session. "Run it end to end online."

Of concern to McCain's campaign, however, is a remaining and still-undisclosed clip from Palin's interview with Couric last week that has the political world buzzing.

The Palin aide, after first noting how "infuriating" it was for CBS to purportedly leak word about the gaffe, revealed that it came in response to a question about Supreme Court decisions.

After noting Roe vs. Wade, Palin was apparently unable to discuss any major court cases.

There was no verbal fumbling with this particular question as there was with some others, the aide said, but rather silence.
