HELP pls
« on: December 23, 2011, 12:27:03 pm »
Hi everyone,

I really don't know who to turn to and hope some of u guys out there could help me

I'm having some bad toothache recently almost for 3 days consecutively, and during the night when i tries to sleep, the pain would be so intolerable and i hope i could just die and stop feeling the pain. I had 8 paracetamol/panadol in like less than 2 hrs. Pain stop for awhile and shortly returns. I really cant sleep with the pain keep occurring.

Is this part of the effect for HIV when its not treated? What should i do in the meantime?

Please advise

 :'(

I'm not tested for HIV yet, but i really suspect that im +ve

You should go see a dentist. It's more likely a cavity than HIV. Don't torture yourself speculating it like that.

12/05/2011 - tested positive
12/14/2011 - CD4 376 (18%) - VL 45734
12/28/2011 - CD4 367 (17%) - VL 27000
01/05/2012 - started Complera
02/08/2012 - CD4 521 (31%) - VL 226
04/05/2012 - CD4 453 (22%) - VL 44

Thanks but

I'm really afraid to turn up in a clinic and get tested for positive and i will lose my job and have no money for treatment, pain is from my jaws

Is the pain described by me really not an effect of HIV when left untreated?

slept like 3 to 4 hours everyday for the past 3 days already with pain described while sleeping. And pain doesnt goes away, stays there and keep recurring

Im really believing that im going to die soon.  :'(

Hello J,

First, you posted in the wrong forum as you don't know your status. However, the good news is, I can post here whereas I'm not able to in the Am I Infected? category.

Break this situation down into its proper parts, please.

You have a severe toothache and you don't know what is causing it.
Get to a dentist as soon as possible. It reads as if you may have an infection, perhaps an impacted wisdom tooth. You may get some, only some, relief from a topical application as sometimes it's the gum that is greatly aggravated as well.

I'm not aware of any dentist in the world who tests their patients for HIV before a procedure.  Please tell me if that is so where you are and I will change my advice.

Next, if you think you are positive for whatever reason is causing you to think that, then get tested and get the results. Then, determine the next step.

You are allowing your fears to run your brain right now. Get practical. Solve each problem incrementally. Start with the pain in your mouth first. If you've got an infection raging there, you want to get it addressed no matter what your HIV status is.

Best
Em

Be careful with those paracetamol/panadol as you can cause liver damage if you take too many.

Basically everything Emerald told you...

You ahve a tooth infection. Go to a dentist and get it taken care of. You do not want that infection going into your blood.

Your dentist is not going to test you for HIV, he will never know one way or the other.

After you get your tooth fixed go get tested, even anonymously if thats what it takes.

J,

As someone who has not yet been tested and confirmed hiv positive, you are absolutely NOT permitted to post in forums that are meant for hiv positive people ONLY.

I have locked this thread as you are not permitted to post in this forum.

I need you to read and abide by the rules of these forums found in this
Welcome Thread - particularly the following:

Quote

With the exception of the “Am I Infected?” and “Off Topic” Forums, the AIDSmeds.com Forums are intended for people who have been diagnosed with HIV (or their loved ones/caregivers).  If you are questioning or unaware of your HIV status, please refrain from posting messages or questions in the Forums intended for HIV-positive people.

The only forum where you may post about your toothache in relation to hiv is the Am I Infected forum - do not post about it in Off Topic.

Feel free to start a thread in the Am I Infected forum to discuss with us why you believe you have been at risk for hiv infection. You may be worrying needlessly.

Do NOT post outside the Am I Infected forum again, or you will risk being permanently banned from these forums.
