Will You/Did You Watch the State Of the Union Address?
« on: January 23, 2007, 08:53:58 pm »
Wondering who will and won't watch it and why - for myself I won't as I think I know what will be said and it's better if I read about it in the newspaper so I don't throw something at the television and break it.

Also can't take watching all that insincere applause and from all those political yahoos!   ::)
And I wished for guidance, and I wished for peace
I could see the lightning; somewhere in the east
And I wished for affection, and I wished for calm
As I lay there - Nervous in the light of dawn

The Washington Post had this nice article about how he's delivering this address with his lowest approval rating ever.  33%.

And this year is the second in a row that a Virginia Democrat gets to respond!

Last year it was our govenor... this year, it's Senator Webb.

I literally cannot bear to watch that man speak anymore. I will NOT be watching.

ps -- the NYTimes published a poll with an even lower rating, 28%. Lower numbers in the last generation only for Carter at the time of the hostage crisis (26%) and Nixon before his resignation (24%).
Her finely-touched spirit had still its fine issues, though they were not widely visible. Her full nature, like that river of which Cyrus broke the strength, spent itself in channels which had no great name on the earth. But the effect of her being on those around her was incalculably diffusive: for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs.

I always watch the State of the Union Address.  Last year and the previous year the President made the exact same statement urging Congress to reauthorize the Ryan White Care Act.  This show is almost as entertaining as the Academy Awards.  Have the best day

It was worth it at the beginning to watch him grovel at the feet (twice in fact) of MADAME Speaker, but now that he's talking I'm not listening because he's an ass wipe.

NOT!!  It is rather painful to not participate but it is MORE painful listening to his whiny defensive method of delivery combined with that disgusting (ditto) smirk!  Why ruin a peaceful evening when I can interact with the Angels of the AM forum!!  Freedom does have its perks! :)

Be Well....

We should have a State of the AM Forum Address.

Given the fact that I've just put myself in the election for Dictator of AIDSmeds (and I'm the only one, as any competition will meet an an unfortunate end... I can promise you that)... I nominate myself to deliver it.   ;D

I was also amused at his grovelling and ass kissing of Nancy Pelosi.
I watched the first 45 minutes or so then fell asleep, I guess it wasn't as exciting as in years past  ;D

He didn’t want to talk about the war. So I was expecting a great new cake recipe.
And I loved how he, again for the 6th straight time, said we need to become oil independent. When actually we are more dependent today than ever before. He just loves speaking that line for a round of applause. Remember his "we're addicted to oil" last year? You have to hand it to him. He "talks" a good game.

Or how bout the subject of earmarks. He brought that up. So HIS party is in power for the last 6 years and does NOTHING stop earmarks. Then the democrats get in power and they do earmark reform to stop this. So now GW pretends its all HIS idea. Hehehe
