Title: Scared to death!
Post by: Anon3421 on November 14, 2012, 07:48:21 am
Hi.
18 days ago I was out at a sex rave, and I was possibly pricked by a needle. I am terrified that I've contracted HIV. Recently, I have noticed that my submandibular nodes seem to have swollen. One on the left is larger than that of the right, both are hard and mobile. Since checking the rest of my body, I've felt tiny (maybe less than pea sized), hard clusters of what I think are nodes around my groin. I've also had pains in my head, which only lasts for a few seconds but has gone on for a few days.
Furthermore, I have experienced chills, abdominal and some muscular pain in the arms and legs.
I cannot think about anything else, this is really getting me down. Is there any way I could get tested sooner? I know I only have another 10 days until I can duo test, but I don't even think I can wait that long.

Thanks for any response/advice.

Being pricked by a needle is not a risk if it happened at all.

Really? The person is known HIV+, and it's well known that he supposedly injects people. Is it not possible that he injected me with his blood or something?

You didn't get injected and by an HIV positive person? Get a grip, you are letting your mind have irrational thoughts.

I understand that it sounds farfetched, but I think you're missing my point. I'm not assuming anything about positive people, but this person in particular is known to do it... I wouldn't have thought anything of it if there wasn't substantial rumour behind it. I don't know whether I was injected, I was pretty out of it, but there was a moment where he walked past me and I felt him press against my thigh. It was only for a second, but it was enough to make (a very high) me look down.

The fact is you did not get injected and getting pricked or scratched by a needle is not a risk.

This internet- fueled myth has yet to be proven in real life.

If this person is known to inject people with HIV, or present a clear and viable threat to others, why hasn't he been arrested?

Moreover,  you won't get HIV from being accidentally (or on purpose) pricked by a needle. Infectious material (presumably blood) has to be A) quite fresh in the needle, no more than a minute or so, and B) injected INTO your body. You arehonestly telling me that you can't feel a volume of liquid being injected into your body? I sure as hell can. Stings. Hurts. And not casually, either. And THATs when it's done by trained nurses in a controlled environment.

If you feel that this has happened, then go to your local authorities and have this investigated.

Regardless, even if all you are suggesting is true, and noone here thinks that it is of course, then it's far too late to do anything about it except wait and get tested at the three month window. But please know that this forum doesn't have the resources to hold your hand through this flight of fancy.
