The symptoms started the second week of May … Just three weeks ago I had swollen lymph nodes. I still experience cough and diarrhea and muscle twitching …I started the PEP meds 16 hrs after the exposure but stopped taking them 8 days later. I never had a fever. I had read that burning mouth syndrome in a male is always related to hiv ??

Thank you.

Look your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV from this encounter. You had a minute HIV risk that didn't even warrent testing outside of standard yearly routine, you tested unnecessary and as would be expected the results are conclusively nonreactive.

You didn't aquire HIV from the concerned encounter, no further HIV testing over this encounter is needed, move on with your life, see your healthcare provider to treat whatever is making you feel unwell.

Here's what you need to know to avoid HIV infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms, and the only way of knowing is by testing.

Kind regards

Jim

Jim , Thank You for your timely answers. I just wish I was as optimistic as you regarding my status…I feel as though I have way too many symptoms. I realize I should trust the tests but deep down I feel as though I am  infected. Just seems as though my body is doing strange things. I pray that I am wrong. Your thoughts on burning mouth syndrome ?.
Thanks again for your insight ….I assume you believe my testing at 90 and 135 days are. CONCLUSIVE ……

Your right leg and left testicle could fall off

However, you don't have HIV unless you have had ongoing exposures not mention here.
