Dan is in the emergency room. His Zerit might be causing havoc.
« on: September 21, 2006, 10:22:38 am »
I just spoke to Dan. He is not well at all.As a matter of fact he is in the emergency room right now.
Since 36 hours he had been throwing up and had a hick-up for about 12 hours.

He had a change of meds 2 weeks ago and Zerit was in the combo.
In  my clinic Zerit has been removed from all combos as it was causing too many problems.

He is going to have several tests done.
Think of him. And let's hope it is just a temporary bump in his side effects.

I didn't "think" it was in the protocol anymore, as it is a well known drug to cause neuropathy.

I hope he gets better, and when he gets a change of meds, he'll do better on them.  It suxors that one little pill can send ya to the E.R.   :(

I am sure the doctors know what they are doing, but when I was in Vienna and my other Uncle was dying, he had hickups for 2 days.  I had no idea what was going on.  After he had cardiac arrest, the doctor told me that the hickups are indeed a sign of cardiac troubles.  Wish I would have known, I would have called the ambulance earlier.

Hope Dan feels better.

Dearest family,

I finally got to talk to Dan. He had a very rough night.
He will remain hospitalised during the weekend.
The doctor gave him some morphine against the pain in his abdomen and chest and he was about to get another shot soon.
An X-ray was taken of his chest yesterday and another one this morning. No news on the results though.
I told him many people had wished him well on the Forum. He was touched by all of you and told me he couldn't wait to read the posts.
Thank you all so much. It has been a scary night for me, being in Europe and having no contact with him.
Cardiac problems still kill a lot of us, so...you understand my concerns.

I'll keep you posted.

Hello Dan,

Just want to say hello to you, and hope that you are doing well. When Hermie described HIC-CUPS for 12 hours, the first thing that came to my mind, was when I had the esophageal thrush, back in July of 2003. Made me terribly sick and yes, gave me continual hic-cups and a heartburn feeling. Hope all is well with you.

Dan is back home. They have released him earlier then expected, as his bloodwork was ok and during weekends no tests are performed anyway.
I just saw him on messenger briefly. The poor kid looked very exhausted and in pain.

He is washed out and lost about 10 pounds since monday.
Got some liquid lidocaine to ease the pain in his esophagus.

He told me to thank you all for the support. He will post after he got a good night rest, as he feels in no condition to do so now.

Thanks again for your wonderful support.

Dan!!!! I'm so glad they let you come home but don't hesitate to go back if you need to!!! It sounds like you're pretty sick. Please email me w/ your new e-addy when you feel up to it (Dizzy bois are compromised at times, namely ME.)  GET BETTER BABY!

Herman--thanks again for keeping us posted on this.  Well, for keeping ME posted!  You are so thoughtful to keep us (me) updated!  I know I'm being selfish here but meeting you and Dan in person brought it all to Texas for me, and I feel like you, that I wish I could be there too!

Love, and Best,
Creighton

Hello Everyone,

Thank you all for your words of encouragement and support. I really need them now. I should be in pbed but my pancreas & spleen are causing a lot of pain for me. This all started Tuesday pm with nausea & vomiting. The vomiting continued all day Wed. I threw up so much it made my diaphram spasm and my espphogus became inflamed. I can barely swallow anything. The hospiatla ran all types of bloodwork, Mt whitle blood cell count was thru the roof. I am running a fever of about 101. Can't find a comfortable position in bed. I just toss and turn hurting. Sitting up in a chair seems to help, that is why i am online at 4:22 Am. They stopped all my hiv meds and told me not to start them back until after I see Dr. Guidi Tuesday. I haven't had any HIV meds since the trhorwing up started & I am having nightsweats already.

This episode is proof to me that the drugs we take are some dangerous stuff. Don't put off going to the doctor if you think there is problem caused by one of your antiretrovirals.

Again thank you all for everything.

Love,

Dan J.
