This is going to sound naive...

......but I have never been in an internet cafe'. Just how, exactly does that work? Do you pay for certain time increments, or is it only necessary that you order something to drink/eat?  ???    or do you have to bring your own computer? (cause if so, then scrap the whole question)

Yeah, I know, I need to get out more. I've been doing some reading today, and came across the link that Cliff offered, about bloggers block. It seems that maybe I do need a bit more stimulation outside the house.

Razz me if you must, but I've never been to one. Can somebody explain?

Hi Lisa

Jen and I used the internet cafe next to the hotel in Montreal...you don't have to buy anything (to eat or dringk that is) you just ask to use the computer, it cost us, if I remember right, $2.50 (canadian) for half an hour..they give you a card with a number on it and all you do is type it in and you are on the net..it's as easy as that...that's how we were able to keep our eye on the guys in the forum to make sure they were all behaving themseves while we were away.... ;)

Hugs

Thank you so much Jan! I believe we only have one, or two of them in my city, but I was a tad bit curious about giving it a whirl. I appreciate your reply.

Hi Lisa,

Some internet cafes have coin operated computers and some have a system similar to the one Jan described. Some also now have WiFi hotspots for people who have laptops - but I'm not sure how they charge for that kind of a set-up.

I like the internet cafe coffeehouses in Amsterdam best! :D

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Thomas,

The coffee doesn't come out of the monitor, it comes the usual way at the counter. However, on the computer tower there is this neat little tray that pops out to put your coffee mug on. :)

What, what do you mean that's not what it's for? ???
