Sleep Study, Liver Concerns, Other Updates
« on: April 17, 2011, 03:40:20 pm »
Rather than start multiple threads, figured I would give some updates since I have been kind of missing in action of the past month, since my father passed away on March 16th.
1) I have been working on a massive work project that has been eating up most of my time - have worked 20 days in a row --- sometimes 14-15 hours a day - the project is almost complete and due to be submitted this week.
2) Had a sleep study done on Friday night - sexy technician named Ray (part Cuban/part Dominican) put all of the electrodes on me --- mmm mmm mmm and checked on me throughout the night.  Will get the results back next week

3) Been helping my mother get things organized via phone and email - lots of glitches here and there, lots of stress - but it is coming along.  I will be going up her way next weekend.
4) Have been extremely tired the last few days and all my muscles hurt -  similar to when I had Hep A back in 2001 and ended up in the hospital for 8 days, then acute Hep B in 2003.  My doc put me on Lopid a couple weeks back for triglycerides and said it could be hard on the liver - debating on whether I need to go to ER tonight as I am having pains in left part of abdomen, right under my rib area and very tired and sore.

5) Went to South Beach yesterday for Pridefest but had to make it an early day due to fatigue and the pain I have been having.

6) Just finished participating in an online research study - and took one of the final evaluations - pays $100 which isn't bad for a few minutes of my time.

Other than the above, everything is everything - just hope this fatigue and pain I'm having is nothing serious - would suck to be having more liver issues - so, I shall monitor it and decide what to do in a little while here.

Thanks again to those who have been so supportive and understanding during the past 30 days.

That work project sounds exhausting. I hope you feel better soon.

Definitely is exhausting - it could be a big part of the reason I am feeling the way I am -- it is a collaborative project involving us as the lead and 18 other colleges around the state --- $25 million budget and lots of moving parts to the proposal.  But, it is the career I choose and what  pays the bills, so I am grateful - tired but grateful.

If you end up being diagnosed with sleep apnea then you'll have a direct cause for your fatigue issues, and would likely end up using a CPAP machine to sleep.

Remind me what your doctor has said about your liver issues... I'm fuzzy on it as there's been a handful of posts by people on this lately.

doc says that my liver seems to be holding up (or at least it was) but wants to keep a close check on it since starting me on the lopid - which can be rough on the liver.  They found a couple of cysts on it a couple years back.  So, I'm worried the pain I might be having and the fatigue could be the holding up liver not really holding up to well.  Doc also says it could be pancreas problems tied possibly to Atripla - she is scheduled to review everything on next round of labs - but that isn't until June.

Depending on how the sleep study comes back and on how I feel as the night goes on and into tomorrow, I may have to move things up a bit and see if my blood work is showing anything unusual going on.

I hope you feel better soon and figure out the problem.  Can't stress and anxiety cause all sorts of physical pain/ailments--not to mention fatigue?  Hopefully it isn't anything more than that...although that is serious, too.  Sending good thoughts the liver and pancreas are doing great and the fatigue and pain are just from working too hard or the sleep issue.  20 days in a row?  You need some R&R.
