Why are AIDS activists using "Common" as a spokesperson?
« on: March 10, 2008, 12:03:06 am »
From everything I know of him, he has made many racist comments about white people and interracial relationships. I didn't actually hear him say it with my own ears, but I have seen it referenced by many sources.

I think you're going to have to give us more to go on here if you want this thread to go somewhere.  Can you provide some links for the offensive commentary by this music artist as well as the use of him in "AIDS activism" material?

Fondly,

Philicia

If you look at te bottom of this very website there is an ad saying "Common" and "AIDS", and he is on MTV all the time telling people to get tested. There is this contest where he is saying that anyone who comes up with good lyrics about getting tested for AIDS that he will rap them himself.

I use a CSS stylesheet to block advertising on web pages, and I don't watch MTV.

You can read this wikipedia article about him, but the links seem to be dead.

He's a rapper, who is trying to convince younger generations to get tested. He has made comments that are teeterring the line of racism. He has spoken out against interracial relationships.
