I will never have to worry about reaching 100, as my body will give out long before that age.  But it's always nice to dream and it's good for your immune system.

It would be nice to be Betty White.  She's 92?  And, she is more active than I.

About the list-- I quit smoking in 2008.  I just saw a man at a restaurant tonight, who was gasping for every breath.  You could hear the wheezing and gurgling.  He had to stop to rest.  I asked if he was okay.  He said COPD from years of smoking.  I did a search recently for people on Adam4Adam, who have HIV positive listed.  Unless I overlooked something, every single poz member said they smoked.  We are in tobacco country here, but from what I've read, a much higher percentage of pozzies smoke.  Well, there is a higher percentage of gay men, who smoke.

Probiotics-- Everyone says I should buy stock in yogurt companies.  I eat about 20 ounces a day.  I assume that counts?

Depression and anxiety-- still working on that.

Orgasm-- I have been doing my self help thing with that, a lot more than I use to.

Religion-- Consider myself agnostic.  I have read studies church-going folks are happier, due to getting out and talking to others, as well as getting involved in charity.

Washing the veggies-- Well, I need to eat more, besides just when I eat Chinese.  Although, I've read some bacteria/pathogens can actually grow inside the vegetable and no amount of washing will help.  Still doesn't hurt to wash.

Exercise-- still working on that.

I do think having a positive attitude, staying active, and being social is the biggest factor.  Although, wasn't there a recent study saying bitchy folks had better outcomes in hospitals??

For men at least, trauma may help longevity too, or not.

New Holocaust Study Says Surviving Trauma Can Make Men Live Longer

'What it discovers is that men who lived through the Holocaust as boys or young men lived as much as 18 months longer than those who didn't -- an astonishing finding that co-author Avi Sagi-Schwartz says could be attributed to a phenomenon known as "post-traumatic growth" [which refers to] a positive psychological change experienced as a result of the struggle with highly challenging life circumstances -- things like life-threatening illness, war, abuse, domestic violence, immigration, or the death of loved ones,.'

The "or not" theory is just that those who survived the Holocaust were the most fit to begin with and would have lived longer regardless, thereby derandomizing the sample this study's conclusions are based on.

Interesting...  These are good recommandations, most of them can apply to anyone...  As a french, I just cannot imagine sterilizated cheeses, this is a no-sense, cheese has to smell... ;)

Anyway, HIV+ or -, I´ve never expected to live 100...

I don´t know with society and people look for living the more they can...  In my way of seeing things, it is better to live great 60-70 years old, tan bad 100...  For sure, it is important not to burn oneself too young...

I'm having trouble bending over to put my shoes on at 44.  I can only imagine what the task will be like at 100.

I was listening to a doctor on NPR the other day and she said that some of baby's that have already been born will live to see 150 to 200 years .

If the problem with inflammation and the pain it causes can be addressed then I wouldn't mind living to be very old but judging from how I feel at 51 I cant fathom wanting to live that long .

Newsweek recently had an interesting article on longevity. One of the experts is a physician who is 83 years old and just participated in his 10th Boston Marathon. They discuss how with current medical technology there is a "wall of death" where people of different cultures who have everything going right succumb to different diseases.

All of this seems a bit self-indulgent to me. Doesn't anyone here ponder what the negative effect of extending life is on society as a whole, in terms of increased healthcare costs and the larger economy?

I only wish AARP would have waited until I'm a 100 to begin spamming my mailbox with offers ... I do enjoy the sticky return address gifts they send though .
