High Anxiety

I havent had sex with a man in many years, I'm a male.  Anyway, recently I did have oral and anal sex and I was the bottom.  I have always used condoms for receptive anal sex.  This time was not going to be any different.  I performed oral sex on him without a condom and he got behind me and was rubbing against me...frottage it is called.  Well, then it felt like he tried to push in, and it could have been what people are calling "dipping".  He might have went in an inch without a condom on.  I stopped him and made him put on the condom, as we agreed to.  He had stated he was HIV negative and tested in April before we started.  I asked him later and he said he had no new partners since the test 

I didnt think to much of it until afterwards and then I kind of started freaking out a few days later and doing research on sites like these.  I wish I acted earlier and made the decision to get PEP, but it was too late.  I waited until 13 days and got a HIV RNA PCR test and it came back not detected for HIV-1.  How much should I be worried?  I'm married and this was a huge mistake.  I was relieved when the RNA came back.  But now I'm in high anxiety again waiting for the 12 week window to do an HIV Antibodies test.  The testing facility was anonymous and I didn't get a lot (i.e. none) of counseling from them. But they did say they have never seen anyone test positive for the HIV antibodies test after coming up negative on the RNA. 

PLEASE give me some advice here.  Should I be worried?  Can I be relieved now that the RNA test came back negative?  Can I get some other test done sooner then 12 weeks that will be conclusive?  I'm starting to get very anxious again.  I will never being doing this again.  The anxiety makes me so freaked out

Your going to be just fine . Its doubtful that someone actually penetrated you if you are not sure if they did or not . If they did dip for that brief of a time then it the low end of low end risk and I haven't ever seen an infection from such an incident .

Continue on with your 6 week test and then confirm the results again at 3 months . Keep in mind its doubtful you actually had a risk and should expect a negative result .

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thanks, Jeff.  I think he started to penetrate me, but I stopped him.  I'm sure he got a little of the way in as I felt the resistance....like when it starts to go in.  So, maybe an inch for 10-20 seconds?  I couldn't tell how much he had pre-cum. 

How conclusive is the RNA?  I will do the antibodies as a home test at the 6 week mark, and again at 12 weeks.  Thank you so much for the work you do here!

RNA test looks for the genetic markers of HIV and isn't a stand alone HIV test . You must test as you intend to do at the appropriate time for a conclusive result .
