Title: Tiger Woods and his SEX Addiction
Post by: red_Dragon888 on February 19, 2010, 10:42:05 am
I feel Tiger's pain, his wife's pain and his kid's pain, but to be famous and have your personal life put out to the public like the latest joke in a high school makes it ten times as worst.

I'm not particularly sympathetic. I don't knowTiger Woods but from what I know he has fame, LOTS of money,  and children. He screwed around, got caught, and has been humiliated... that happens to lots of people. However, unlike the average Joe, he has so much money he can pay off his wife, never have to play golf competitively again, enjoy a lavish lifestyle and devote time to his children.

Poor little rich boy.

He betrayed his wife and family and two-timed all his lovers.  It's not like he had a discrete mistress.  Well, I wouldn't want to be in his shoes, or anyone who has had anything to do with him.  Unless it was really a sex addition and he's getting help.  That whole narrative seems pretty thin.

In the sports world , after an athlete has shown his prowess on the field they often go out for stud service.  Tiger should just charge for it.

I think the whole media attention on his personal life is disgusting. However, I do appreciate him going on live television today to apologige to me/us for cheating. That's something my ex hasn't even done.

I don't think Tiger Woods really has anything to worry about, his private life is just that "Private" he should just go back to what he does best, play golf he really shouldn't have to explain anything, and no one should expect him too, that is between him and is family ONLY!

Don't know the guy, and furthermore don't give a shit where he put it!

Seems like many of you are bored and don't have enough to do, to worry about where some millionare is sticking his dick....  ::)

Since all of you are presumably HIV+; looking into your own eyes in the mirror might be a more productive exercise.

I just find it hilarious when famous people get married and then cheat and are surprised when they get caught.  Oh you didn't think your fame would detract from your ability to hide your extra-marital affairs?  Oops...

The list goes on and on and on of famous people who've cheated and I find it pretty boring.  This is just the same old song and dance, yet it seems like the US (and maybe the world) has some fascination with famous people.  I don't care that Brad and Angelina have adopted enough children to populate an elementary school, or if Tiger is cheating, or if Lady GaGa really is a man (ok this one might interest me a little).  Just let it go.

It wasn't the publics business until the media made the topic so big. Don't know which came first, the chicken or the egg so yeah "the public" never had to pay attention but they did and then the cat was out of the bag.

I think pronouncing on his gross infidelities isn't because he's a star, its because the infidelities were so gross.  Naturally we don't know what arrangement he had with his wife and his lovers.

As to your quote above, you take that back mister!  HIV positivity is not synonymous with promiscuity or infidelity.  Sometimes but not always.  Geez.

Enjoying a titillating tear-down is time honored tradition.

It's just gossip its not like we are the journalists having to report endlessly on trash.

Indecent behavior made public deserves to me mocked.  John Edwards scandal case in point.  What a prick.

Tiger is a great athlete. It would be interesting to learn if he is genuinely an inconsiderate shit or if he really has an addition. That is certainly a topic interesting enough for debate in the zeitgeist and it's not a bad idea for heterosexual men to have to think about it.

Tiger, his wife, and the X women that he slept with.  Where X is equal to any woman that apparently gets within 10 feet of his genitals.

Dunno.  I've spent the past two years completely ignoring him, then I finally succumbed and watched the first Twilight on cable last month and now I'm smitten and obsessed just like a 13 year old girl.  A friend of mine in NYC is in the same predicament, and we're both embarrassed by our tweenerization because it's very unlike either of us.

But thats different than saying the public is silly to comment.  It has nothing to do with us, personally. It's a morality tale.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that.  A golfer apologizing to general public for his sex life make no sense to me. He is not an elected official or a religious leader who tells people how to live their lives.

actually the thing about this whole  business that bothers me most is he got almost as much free prime time TV coverage as the president of the USA.....that's  UNBELIEVABLE..!!!!  ...ads on a football/baseball or other games cost millions per minute  and he gets nearly 30 free mins to "apologize"   who gives a rats' ass.....I don't care how well he plays golf or how many honeys he managed to screw.......I was watching a perfectly useful weather report when it was pre-empted by a "national" reporter with this "special report"

exactly. sexual hyprocisy of a moralist politican or religious leader are the only sex "scandals" truly worthy of note. All the rest are just interesting tidbits, like who wore what to the which award show .

I always thought Tiger should have "manned up" about this in the first place and just kept doing his "job". It's not like having a lot of sex would screw up his golf game (obviously he has the wins to prove it doesn't). I would think he should just be respected for being a great golfer and perhaps considered lucky for getting laid so much. As to the personal side of this, who knows and who cares. For all we knew his wife and he had made "arrangements" for this kind of behavior. If not, it's their issue to resolve in the privacy of their home or counselor's office.

And all that was just too gross about Ga-Ga. ::) I can't believe y'all had me looking at pictures of a woman's crotch!! :o Egads! But I did go check out the Twilight dude, so that helped a bit.

oh, but one last thing about tiger. just what the hell is a sex "addiction"? Isn't implying someone else's luck to get laid as often as they want an "issue" like an addiction, just a sad way to say that you're not getting enough and you're jealous? ;) ;D

I think he's only publicly apologizing for financial reasons (make more money) and so that Elin doesn't knee him in the nutss.  I don't feel sorry for him - he was sloppy with his affairs.  And he probably feels worse about getting caught than about busting his disco stick.

But that's the "Oprah ready" part of the media event.  Like when i said it would be cool if Joe hetero golfer had a think about the difference between "addiction" ... and male prerogative sexism and male sex-role acting out.

Have there been no talk show panels yet on "sex addition and the married man"  ????  If not, its curious.

Anyway I think media event is some kind of media elite marionette show.  You go to the string puppet show as a kid and it teaches you some kind of moral lesson.  Tiger looks puppety with that smooth round baby face.  Looks like the "hero of marionette town", adored by all.  So its such a surprise when we learn he's two-faced.  He sort of becomes the town jew - rich, believed to be all powerfu (business wise - he's too big too fail, and yet he did!)l, Then, the skanky women are cartoons, you can see each one coming out - the village whores --  pulled by strings - the message so easy to transmit.  The classy blonde Scandinavian wife goes nuts then flees to a distant castle on a cold sea...

Don't you think Tiger could easily sell his life story for a cheesy telemovie biopic.

But he is far bigger than that!  I'm sure he could get big screen biopic with major stars - I see Reese Witherspoon as the wife (resemblance). Or maybe Drew Barrymore (since she likes to channel High Wasp).  Or just get some real hot young Swede film star.  But if its a swedish star you need a huge black hollywood superstar as tiger.

If its a womyn produced pic, you get Tyson Beckford as Tiger Woods (fllm debut) and Reese Witherspoon.

In the big budget movie -- testosterone driven apology for male sex addition - maybe a comeback for Cuba Gooding Jr.  George Clooney is a bit old but he would make a great Tiger Woods. He could do it in very hi-tech blackface -- that would really get tongues a wagging.

Also as for the media event now -- don't forget golfing is so middle class and professional golfing and big time golf for amateurs is upper class.   It's a bit odd that the media event got so big - so there must be something that made a lot of executives and media elites around the country freak a little bit about what is supposed to be kept discrete.

Tiger Woods is a really huge celebrity. Bigger than Eliot Spitzer!!!  (And yeah Eliot has been trying to make up for it honorably by being all over the place now showing hes intelligent and has meaningful things to say about politics).

A "buddy" millionaire and billionaire (perfect wifey by the way) CEO kingpin, gets layed super low by the hoi polloi (that's us, "the public" with the vulgar appetite for gossip and celebrities and celebrity culture) when we see he's not the golden boy we think.

Maybe "the media" made this more than the public.  I saw reporters on the news commentary shows yesterday saying they would never go the Tiger Woods apology thing because no questions could be asked so it wasn't a reportable event in their opinions.

_____________
Was it reported by the 3 networks and CNN as "national news" by news reporters?

The brass tacks there are several paths around this circus tent.  One is a family problem for a major celebrity and its non of our business - unless they make it so (clearly not in this case).  Second is about infidelity and the third is promiscuity.  Forth is the business of celebrity story (Tiger woods didn't get that rich on wiinnings alone!).

Promiscuity is abstract path into this story -- and you want an abstract path - either for the oprah good about it, or to prove you aren't vulgar and superficial.  Its a family problem?  No story cause there is no in.  Infidelity - bof, its not that all interesting to us maybe but to bible bangers and salt of the earth types, its a perrennial.

Did he say in the announcement that he was in a "detox clinic for sex addition". Or has it been just the media who reported he was in such a place.  Maybe both?

He lost a lot of freaking money on this scandal. Kate Moss lost less than a year of fees for her cocaine scandal. Tiger's they say run in to the 100's of millions in lost income for him.  That has been a innocent and interesting enough part of the story.  Can you imagine the number of people this economic loss has affected?

--------------
But I'm waiting for the sex addiction phase.

"So does sex addiction exist? You might forgive your husband for drug addiction if he was in recovery. But what if his addiction was "other women"? Coming up next, we discuss male sex addiction, what it does to the men and their families - how to identify it... and how to treat it....."

Sex Addiction: Why Men in Power Act Out
By 4 Therapy
An Interview with Renowned Sex Addiction Expert Robert Weiss, LCSW, CSAT
http://www.life-healing.com/life_healing_featured/sex-addiction-why-men-in-power-act-out.php

(new agey leftist perspective - its obviously a pitch from a sex addiction clinic practictioner.  But the message is pretty interesing.)

Sexual addiction has affected some of the most notable figures in television, politics, and entertainment. David Duchovny’s recent public admission of being a sex addict, which followed swiftly on the heels of a series of political controversies involving Bill Clinton, Elliot Spitzer, and Larry Craig, are just a few examples of sexual addiction problems manifesting in men of power.

As these famous icons continue to come forward and be revealed as sex addicts, one by one, onlookers wonder why attractive, wealthy, smart, and powerful men put themselves in a position to lose so much. How could seducing interns, having sex in a public place, or hiring prostitutes be worth the price of public humiliation, tarnished reputations, loss of employment, and embarrassment to family and friends?

Smart, attractive, powerful people can and do occasionally have empty emotional lives. The source of sex and love addiction is frequently a lack of connection, genuine intimacy, and emotional support, says renowned sex addiction expert Robert Weiss, LCSW, CSAT, Director of Clinical Programming at Life Healing Center in Santa Fe, a residential treatment center for individuals suffering from sexual addiction, emotional trauma, drug and alcohol addiction, and other mental health concerns. In many cases, people who addictively seek out intensely pleasurable experiences to distract or stimulate them are attending to their emotional needs in dysfunctional ways.

I agree with that.  What was he thinking?  The way he got busted showed a true lack of expertise on his part.   I never understand why these athletes get married anyways.  There is so much stuff going on in their lives that does not include married minded thinking, like being home with the family on Saturday night watching DVD's.  They are often faced with temptation and often fall victim (lol) to it.

If I was the agent I would tell them to have fun and play hard till your 40, then marry someone half your age to rub your sore joints.

Screw him - to put yourself out there as a celebrity and make millions of dollars off of that celebrity also allows the public to comment on your life.  Whether that is wrong or right, it is the same for every public figure in society.

I agree with what you are saying but I guess I understand more of his need to have sex even if could destroy his life.  It control him to the point that he thought he coud get away with it or until he allowed it to mess-up his life.  I guess most wont understand the addiction because it makes no sense to them.  Only, well not only, those who are caught up in the addiction can understand.  It is like wondering why overweight people wont just watch what they are eating or why drug users wont simply just stop using drugs.

So let me understand that, if someone couldn't give a "RAT ASS", why bother to come back to this tread.

Its interesting, that every time the belief system of reaching the American dream, has shown its flaws, people get on the defensive and are twisting their nickers in a knot.

By no faults on your own, and since we are dealing with human behaviour, we collectively, do however share some responsibility as a society for making this whole thing happening. We can't get enough of this phenomena and we spend our already highly taxed dollars, in making these guys billions.

Tyger Woods, who he is, and what he represent is big.

Accountability.

A word that has been flowing a lot these days right here on these boards. History has shown that the wonderful U.S.A  and its belief system of reaching that dream, freedom and so called democracy, have not always been kind to its people and came at a price.

However they are making sure that we, and the rest of the world, are accountable for our actions. Hypocrisy at its best. If only a fraction on the mighty dollars, energy and time spend on this issue, was directed in making your life, better and part of this American dream, looking after its peoples health, that, in my view would be a more of a worthy cause.

The Canadian journalist, which happens to be a women, has a point.

And I am sorry for "foddeling" my drivel by throwing it right back at you. It must be from the habit of my farming background. ;D

And no, even if we have yet to see any snow in Toronto this winter, we are not at all frustrating with the fact that, we have been deprived of our favorite past time; building Igloo's. :D

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that.  A golfer apologizing to general public for his sex life make no sense to me. He is not an elected official or a religious leader who tells people how to live their lives.

Tsk, he is not apologizing to you, but to his sponsors.
