Concerned and no one to talk to
« on: December 30, 2023, 04:11:40 pm »
Hi y’all. On Sep 22 I was exposed to HIV. Oral with no condom and vaginal with condom.

On 27 Sep I had floaters and sensitivity to lights. It persists today. On Nov 2 I had temp, couple small mouth sores, headache and lesions on my face. This persisted for two weeks then thrush that has held on until now.

I am to be tested in the next couple of weeks. I have had all theses symptoms before except the floaters and decreased vision. Would HIV display these symptoms in 5 days?

Thank you for the conversation.

Hiya,

Receiving a blowjob lacks the conditions required for acquiring HIV; thus, it makes sense that after 40+ years of this pandemic in terms of BJs, there hasn't been a single documented case of HIV transmission to an insertive partner (the person being "sucked"), and you will not be the worlds first.

Regarding intercourse, HIV can't be transmitted through an intact latex or polyurethane condom. Unless a condom obviously fails during intercourse, there is no reason to be stressing or testing for HIV outside the standard yearly HIV screening.

In short, what you posted here wasn't an HIV exposure.

No, and it has nothing to do with your HIV status from this encounter. See your healthcare provider and get these issues checked and treated.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim

Jim,

Thank you for a quick response. I’m hoping that this is true after my test. It is very helpful to hear that from someone with your experience.

In my current situation I can’t discuss this with anyone around me so I’m very thank for your conversation. Have you ever heard of floaters so quick as a symptom of hiv regardless of the exposure type? I will be seen by my Doc but the timing of this is a little off and suspect. I was just wondering if in all the stories you had helped with any one who was positive had seen this type of symptom that early in the infection.

Thanks again my friend.

I had a pee this morning, flushed the toilet, and it started raining outside...
Conclusions, taking a piss caused it to rain, and the timing is too hard to ignore, must be true right? ::)

The brain seeks patterns and, therefore, has difficulty accepting coincidence. You have asked about these symptoms, including the timing within five days, and I have answered that. Asking me again will not change anything.

To be clear, your issues have nothing to do with HIV from the encounter/activities posted here, and I have zero interest in pretending otherwise, as that would be a disservice to you and the community, not to mention it would be a waste of my time.

Move on with your life, see your healthcare provider and get these issues treated.
Please do not post about this again. Thank you.
