Nutrisystem
« on: August 01, 2006, 11:36:27 pm »
Well Id like to lose a good 10 lbs. quickly.  I know someone who recommends nutrisystem...they say it eliminates the work of food preparation and you have a good variety and for just 300 bucks a month, you get 3 meals a day plus snacks!

Anyone here try or know someone who has tried Nutrisystem?  Does it work?  Is the food yummy or it tastes nasty?  Do the portions fill you up or youre still starving afterwards?

Id rather do this than Atkins although Atkins works like a charm!

Wow, thats a lot! For three hundred bucks, I'll cook for you :)

As for Atkins, ech. I have seen some nasty effects and some fascinating rebounds for those who used it. Plus, it makes you stupid <grin>.

As horrific as it sounds, the best thing you can do is permanently alter your diet, and move more. Weight lifting for those who tire easily is terrific, since the results continue the metabolic process long after the exercise.

Sadly, if you drop too much weight too quickly, you will not be able to sustain it. Seriously, better to see a nutritionist and a personal trainer. Same money, better spent, and its forever.

I tried Atkins a few years ago.  I had to stop because I was losing way too much weight much too quickly.  In 2 weeks I lost like 12 lbs....way too much.

Im usually pretty stable with my weight.  But lately Ive been very frustrated with personal problems.  I dont turn to booze - I look to cookies and cake and chocolate for comfort.

My brother ordered the Nutrisystem thing last year.
It's more than $300, as you still need to buy all your fruits and vegetables to balance each meal.
He didn't stick to it, though, and I've tried some of the food.  It's not horrible (not much of an endorsement...)
The stuff that's left is now packed away in a box in the pantry with emergency supplies.

A friend at work gave me a dinner to sample.

It wasnt horrible - it was edible - again not much of an endorsement.  But yes, you definitely need a huge salad or something on the side...it aint enough to fill me up!

As a dietician with a masters in science, my mother says the South Beach Diet isn't all that bad.
