Immune Restoration Syndrome

Has anyone have to deal with this ?

It happened when a Cd4 rises quickly regardless of a number......

I`m frightened a litlle bit -  cd4 has arose from 58 - 203 in just a 1,5 month !

Is there any way to avoid it ?

I've gotten it several times, whenever I started antiviral therapy. It sucks, but so long as you are in contact with your doctor (in case things get out of hand), you should muddle through.  There's really no way to avoid it, and it appears that for the most part, only OTC drugs can minimize the effects.

You simply might have to get sicker before you get better, as your immune system finally begins to kick in again.

I had immune reconstitution syndrome a couple of months after starting meds.  My CD4s rose from 260 to 1400 in two months.  I don't think there's a whole lot you can do to avoid it.  Some physicians prescribe corticosteroids to control it, if it occurs, though that is not true in all cases.  Anyways, a few weeks later I was all better.

What basically causes this is that when your immune system starts to work again, it suddenly recognizes diseases that have infected the body, but that the immune system was too messed up to recognize.  Hence the immune system suddenly gets on the stick and starts to fight these diseases and you end up sicker than you were.  Some can be very serious illnesses.
