Oral drug test - Atripla
« on: February 04, 2014, 11:44:21 pm »
i just got an email about a new job, the interview is at 1pm tomorrow, it stated that if they decide to hire me i will have to pass an on site drug screen. From what i've read, efavirenz causes 100% reaction rates in triage 8 drug screens. has anyone been tested with an oral saliva test. i can't find any info on oral tests. (yes i used search)

I have had an oral drug test when I was on Atripla and tested positive for cannabis .

You will have to ask what their policy is to get a waver after you show proof its a false positive due to a prescription drug you are on . I was tested by a pain management doctor and he was very reluctant to believe my story about Atripla until he researched it .

I was on medical leave for shoulder issues and when I returned to work I had to have a complete drug screen. I'm not certain what exactly they were looking for but when they asked if I was no, I told the nurse Atripla for however many years it was. Never gave it another thought and according to the results - I passed. I seem to recall them calling for clarification of what I was on. Honestly, it was so long ago and without anything to compare it to, I thought it was normal procedure. I guess the moral of the story is full disclosure.

I was caught off guard when my pain management doctor came back in the room visibly angry at me after doing the drug test . He told me that lying to him was a terrible way to begin treatment .

My point is that since its a job interview I would find out ahead of time what you need to do to back up the fact that you may get a false positive result .
