Where should I go?
« on: June 19, 2006, 10:59:43 AM »
This is a high-quality problem.

I have over 60,000 frequent flier miles with United Airlines, and I have to "use 'em or lose 'em" (some of them expire) by the end of the year.

I've been to Peru, Bolivia, Australia, Mexico City (5 times), Thailand and Tokyo (3 times each on the same trips.)

I have dear friends in Australia (Sydney, Wagga, Ipswich) and Mexico (Mexico City) and Phuket, Thailand, and there's a part of me that would love to go back and visit them again.

But I've also already been to these places, and there's the part of me that wants to go somewhere else--somewhere I've never been.  Amsterdam, or Spain, or Rio, or The Dominican Republic, or London, or...

This could very well be the last big trip I will ever take, for both financial and health reasons.

When you travel, do you prefer to go somewhere you've never been?  Or do you return to places you've been, and know, and love?

Funny you should mention that, Siang.  I was just checking out those B&B's that Eirin posted in the Amsterdam thread, and trying to decide if having my own private bathroom was worth paying double!  (I'm thinking yes...)

What's the weather like in Amsterdam in late September?  Probably a bit of a crap-shoot, eh?

I've been to Paradise, but I've never been to me :P

Come visit San Diego!  It's beautiful!    :P

Consider Prague.  It is a beautiful city filled with love and great beer.  And some hot gay bars!
44 year old gay man .......just broke up with the only man I've ever really loved.

You can love completely without complete understanding.

Some good suggestions here.

(Munich and Prague, in particular!)

I love San Diego, but I get down that way every couple of years as it is.  (I lived in Los Angeles for 10 years, and my mother is in Vista with my sister and her family.)

And Matty, we had a BLAST in Wagga Wagga (where the crow flies backwards?  Isn't that what they say?  Of course there wasn't all that much to see...but it was very beautiful...as was the road trip from Wagga to Canberra.  Perhaps the finest vacation of my life.)

Why not tour Europe? Use 'em all up at once since you said yourself it may very well be your last trip due to financial/health reasons. Make it one to remember. Milan, Venice (before it sinks), Rome, Florence, Paris, Nice, Mersailles, Amsterdam, Munich, Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid, etc...

  ADEMAS DOES EUROPE!
