Does anyone know much about the effects of iron in hiv+ folk?

My nutritionist is currently researching a suitable base multivitamin for me to take. I trust shes researching the matter further herself as she seems pretty thorough and committed (I'm her first hiv+ client) but from what she mentioned during our first meeting, I understand that iron supplements might not be so good for folk with hiv.

I'm googling the topic now as I type but I'm not so hot with science lingo. ::) So if anyone can explain what they know in a 'special needs' kind of way ;D), I would be a happy chicky.

No urgency, just curious.

Iron is quite essential for absorbtion of minerals into the blood, Mental activity and Muscles as far as I know.
It's normally good to get your Iron with your Magnesium. It helps with absorbtion or something as far as I know.
Hmmm..... I normally get my Iron from Spinach and Eggs....
They seem to cover a lot of good nutrients for hiv+ ppl

Meli,

My reply may not be complete, as right now , i do not time to follow up on the links that Ray (JRE)
has so helpfully provide !!

But, the main consideration, HIV aside, iron intake MUST be based on the sex of the person taking it !!
As male do not the problems of menstruation !! Hope this helps.
