neuropathy pain in feet and legs

(1/1)

bobbyhuse:
I get the poz aids newsletter sent to me by e-mail and i have perpetual neuropathy and also ringing in the ears, anyway,i can relate to the pain everyone talks about ,but if u read the reviews from the letter it recently talked about saying that mariuania studies were done and said it helps with neuropathy pain and is trying to get it passed, well i used to smoke,so i tried it and it does subside my pain, guess because your high, but i dont think about the pain at the time, thats what it said, not lying, just like for peoples eye problums, anything to help w/pain relief is good for my feet and legs

poodlelover:
tips for neuropathy:  Do not wear shoes when possible.  Do not wear tight shoes.  Run cold water over your feet when the pain is really bad.  Keeping you feet cool does help alot with the pain.  Neurotin did nothing for my pain.

Hello ,

Welcome to the forums. I've been dealing with mild to moderate PN, since early 2004. I rank the pain levels between 3-5 , out of a possible 10. ( 10 being the worse)

Also been dealing with the ringing in the ears.( this is constant). I believe that also started, early in 2004. I do have the exact times documented. As far as the ringing in the ears. I have had an MRI done, had to bulging cervical discs ( I think it was c-5 and c-6) Just dealing with the ringing for now. Sometimes it also can get more intense then on other days. My hearing is fine.

For the neuropathy, I just started this past Thusday on on a research trial study. You can read about it here :

I also have to agree with Poodle lover, try avoid wearing shoes when possible. Since I have been involved in this study, I find that more true right now. Also cool water helps quite lot.

I also was prescribed the neurontin, back in 2004. It did nothing for me either. As my t-cell 's finally started going up, the neuropathy started settling down somewhat, and became more tolerable. My feet constantly feel as though I have them soaking in ice water, even though they are warm to touch.

I also read the news letter and other info regarding Marijuana use in helping to control neuropathy.I've been staying on top of it. But I do not smoke mariguana. Haven't done the stuff, in at least 25 years. Just never did anything for me. ( would be curious though, after not smoking it for this length of time, to see what effects it has.  :P

Besides, I am still working everyday, And I do need to keep myself focused at work. I don't take any pain medication for the neuropathy, although these past couple days, I have been taking Oxycodone, that was prescribed to me, after I started this research trial. I am only taking this stuff if absolutely necessary.

Take care-----Ray
