I'm having a Lupercalia!
« on: February 12, 2007, 07:09:49 PM »
It was a Roman fertility festival traditionally celebrated on 15 February.  I'll be making it a day early so as to coincide with Valentine's Day.

It involved naked men dressing in the skin of goats that had been sacrificed and whipping women in a crowd to ensure fertility.

I'll be making a few changes.   ;)

Change "dressing in the skin of goats" to "watching Ingmar Bergman's 'Cries and Whispers.'"  It's appropriate because there's a lot of red in it.

And change "whipping women" to "drinking wine."

There'll still be naked men if I have anything to say about it... but I feel like it would be kind of me to open up my apartment to lonely single males this year.

Provided that they are naked.  And appreciate Swedish existentialist film.

Wish me luck with my "lupercalia."  Which in Latin means, "let booze and unfulfilled romantic expecations make you easy."   ;D

Edited to Add: All of you can come, by the way.  Hear angels' trumpets and devils' trombones!  You are invited.

As long as it's all cotton and not one of those poly-cotton blends!   :D

Only the classiest of bedsheets shall be at my lupercalia!

The classiest of bed sheets, the reddest of wines, the most depressing of films, and the cheapest of beers.

I'm a Capricorn, so can I just come naked and be the goat?
Floating through the void in the caress of two giant pink lobsters named Esmerelda and Keith.
