Another Testosterone Question
« on: February 01, 2007, 02:42:57 PM »
I got an injection two weeks ago, and two days ago, I applied Androgel.

I felt too energetic enough that I didn't apply androgel yesterday. Last night, I had the hardest time falling a sleep and I have all these burst of good and bad (nervous) energies.

Is androgel something that I must use everyday? can i divide up the package and use only 2.5 g every day? or can I just use it whenever I am starting to feel worn down?

What are your experiences with this? I am constantly masterbating and just full too too much energy on this.

When I am feeling the "ups" does that mean the hormone is reached its peak or that I need more?

Well the constant masturbating sounds like a pleasant side effect!!

LIFE is not a race to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in a pretty and well-preserved body, but, rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming--WOW! WHAT A
RIDE!!!

You're supposed to take androgel every day to keep the amount of synthetic testosterone at a stable level.  I would think if you're doing it as you please no wonder you feel like you are on a roller coaster hormonally.  You're body can't effectively adjust.  The longer you take this stuff the less weirdness you will feel, and the constant masturbation will die down somewhat.

He's obviously compromising between what I said (having a dependable steady stream of the testosterone) and your objections that it's too much.  Basically he just decreased your dosage, that's all.

egello, when I first started I was on 200 mg Depo IM once every two weeks. Now I'm on Testim 1% 50 mg GEL (1 tube) every day. I was just told if I see that I am developing pimples to back off and take every other day till pimples go away. I don't notice any difference and I've been taking it over a year. The days I don't take it I still wake up like a teenager.

I have not masterbated in the last few weeks. This from a guy who had at least one episode a day. Is this a sign of low testosterone? I know it could be the meds, depression, the virus... I guess only more labs would tell. Also, I can't put on weight.

koi1... I've read you have weight problems.  You mean to tell me that they do not have you on testosterone shots?  Why not?

ALSO:  I'll give everyone a little hint about weight loss and hitting depression and anxiety together if you want.  There's a drug called Remeron (generic: Mirtazapine) for depression.  Also of note, this is NOT an SSRI class medication so if you hate what those do to you Remeron will not do it.  But here's what is great about Remeron aside from addressing your depression:  IT MAKES YOU EAT... LOTS, and it also keeps the weight on you as it effects your metabolism.  THIRD BENEFIT:  at the lower doses it actually acts as a mild sedative and really will help you sleep well.

I started Remeron at the advice of my psychiatrist after my 2nd big weight loss in '02, and I swear I immediately started putting weight back on.  In combination with testosterone shots this works great, but I think many HIV doctors aren't that aware of it, but if you mention Remeron and have them look it up in their book for side effects they will have no issues prescribing it to you hopefully.

Also, I went off Remeron completely a year ago and I've not lost any of the weight, nor did I have any miserable withdrawal issues though like anything you have to slowly taper off of it during the span of a month or two.

from wikipedia:

Quote
Side effects

Interestingly, its side effect profile can be used for benefit in certain clinical situations. The drowsiness, increased appetite, and weight gain it causes are useful in patients with depressive disorders with prominent sleep and appetite disturbances. In addition, it is quite useful in inpatient situations in which patients suffer from nausea since it also antagonizes the 5-HT3 receptor, the target of the popular anti-emetic ondansetron (Zofranģ).
At lower dosages, such as 7.5 mg, mirtazapine is primarily antihistaminergic, causing sedation, which can be beneficial in depressed patients who have difficulty falling asleep. At doses higher than 15 mg, its effect is primarily in inducing the release of norepinephrine, and is thus less sedating.

I've gone through phases of not wanking for a while, with low sex drive.  But it has always come roaring back!  My record is wanking 5 times in one day.  lol  Made my cock sore!  Maybe it's natural to go through these phases.  I doubt my testosterone is low either but never had it checked.  What is the reason to have it checked in the first place?

Low testosterone levels from HIV infection contribute greatly to appetite suppression, weight loss and depression.  There's no need for the test to be run unless you are having those three problems.

I learned that testosterone would turn you more aggressive... or I overheard it while I was socialised in a feminist household. Turning on horniness was never discussed though... Is increased aggression an issue with testosterone supplementation?

philly, I'm not on testosterone for depression, weight loss or appetite suppression. I'm on it for ED and to boost my energy level.

yeah, I did notice aggression and almost go into a confrontation with my b/f over nothing and I found myself not backing off. This was at the peak after getting a testosterone shot. Having been on adrogel for two weeks, life is boring back to before, harmm,, sorta of miss the shot.
