Hmmm,

That's not the impression I got.

From Page 2 of the article:

"In their efforts to end all medical research involving animals, PETA made false claims about our studies," wrote Roselli in an e-mail. "They did so in an attempt to create anger in the gay and lesbian community, all based on untrue statements. The reality is that basic biological research like ours is directed at understanding important relationships between physiology and behavior, not finding cures."

Here's the NYTimes story:

This is why I get so frustrated with PETA sometimes. I'm vegetarian, a bona fide animal lover; but the cause of animal rights is not served by this kind of distortion. In fact, it's a disservice.

Her finely-touched spirit had still its fine issues, though they were not widely visible. Her full nature, like that river of which Cyrus broke the strength, spent itself in channels which had no great name on the earth. But the effect of her being on those around her was incalculably diffusive: for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs.

George Eliot, Middlemarch, final paragraph

My friend, who's vegan only because it justifies his eating disorder, posted on Myspace yesterday that he was really pissed at PETA for knowingly disseminating lies about that research.

Silly me....I thought the first paragraph of the  article was in reference to the football team, the St. Louis "RAMS"  :o     Until I read further....    :P

"Jan. 26, 2007 Eight percent of rams, left to their own devices, seem to have a sexual preference for other rams

It's unAustralian not to eat lamb.
I guess with 300 million odd sheep, lamb is cheap. No wonder so many of us are gay.

You've gotta watch this advertising campaign we have just had on tv: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkUnemSg3dg. lmfao
