Nobody used it but for miniscule moments in the old forum. Would we make use of it now?
Every time I clicked on chat, there was never anyone there.
Besides, that's why I downloaded Skype, and still have MSN. (HINT)  ::)

I think I would use it.  I used it quite a bit when I first joined.  I do have Skype but it doesn't work because of my dial-up modem.

Oh, it's a phone thing then 9 times out of 10 it will not be compatible with my hearing aids. I don't like talking on the phone as it is due to the feedback I get.

Skype is a computer based phone system - and pretty cool too. You can call other computers or regular land line or cell phones and for most of 2006 they let you make long distance calls in the USA for free as a promotion.  For 2007 I paid $15 and can make unlimited domestic long distance for the whole year.  You can also make international calls for a lot cheaper then the phone companies.

You can use a microphone and speakers or now they have tons of accessories that plug into your computer that act like real phones including wireless so you don't even have to be at your computer to make or take calls, and the prices for these phones range from $10 on up but for $50 you can get a pretty good one.  You can even buy a device that attaches to your land line and lets you use it or Skype.

Wow, do I sound like a commercial or what....full disclosure = I have no financially interest in Skype :)

Oh and they have a public chat function as well.

philly, I bet most people here haven't got a clue what IRC stands for -- hint: it's not Irreverent Roman Catholics.  You might as well tell them to telnet to a site or, better yet, use gopher (I still feel sorry about poor old gopher dying so quickly when that strange thing called the WWW began.  And I still refuse to believe Internet Explorer was ever based on Mosaic!!! Sir, I knew Mosaic, and IE has never been Mosaic!).

Being a poor typist I hate all chat programs.  Skype me, baby!!
