I have a bug! A BUG A BUG!
« on: December 27, 2006, 05:05:27 PM »
My boyfriend gave me a bugggggg.
Hehehe. xD.

Named Peter Parker (after Spiderman).

He's a pink-toed tarantula and he lives in a 10 gallon tank in my roommmm. He is quite crazy. But I love him. I just won't TOUCH him because he gives me the willies. Everything is cool as long as the glass walls are between us.
:D

He's my Christmas present! xD. I'll try to get pictures eventually.

Sounds like a great pet, what do you feed that critter?

Living in the southwest, I get tarantulas wandering around my yard and once on awhile in the house.  Good thing they are not too aggresive (usually) and I can just let them climb on to my hand while I move them to a safer area.

Wish the ones I see had pink toes - maybe the next one that visits me will get his toes polished as a bonus! :)

Have fun -

Interesting, that it floats on water...

It wouldn't last long in my proximity...  I'd have nightmares about it getting out - could you imagine a Sustiva nightmare about it's escape?? OMG!  The torture!

That is so cool. I have had several Chilean rose haired tarantulas. They are very calm. of course you know they eat crickets. they also shed their skins . Watch for a bald spot to develop on it's butt and when it does, make sure you feed it extra so it doesn't run out of energy during shedding and die. Mine would spread a web out in a flat spot, flip itself over on it's back and pull itself out of it's skin. also, if you get the nerve to handle it, use slow easy movements and try to stay relaxed as they can sense when you are nervous. I can't have one now because Robert is too small and while it might only make me sick if it bit me, it might seriously hurt him. oh, also if you scare them, sometimes they will fling hairs off their butt at you and the hairs irritate the skin. good luck with your pet. If i can answer any questions for you let me know.  Cristy

Hahaha. I just got the best visual of getting annoyed with someone and shooting them with butt-hairs.

I love you. Have this scary little creature with many legs that looks like he could eat you if he really wanted to.
