Epivir Reyataz Norvir

(1/1)

alterman:
Are the Meds I am on.can anybody tell me what to expect out of these new meds I'm on?

gerry:
You're missing one more medication.  The Norvir is used only to boost the levels of Reyataz (PI) and does not count as an active drug in the combo.  Epivir is usually combined with another NRTI such as Viread or Ziagen with this combo.

alterman:
Ok you are right I also have Ziagen in the combo also,...Thanks DOC.I thought I had misunderstood my doctor but I got it right.

gerry:
The main thing to watch out for is allergic (hypersensitivity) reaction to the Ziagen. It comes with a card that warns you about this.  If you develop rash, especially if accompanied by difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, etc., you need to tell your doc immediately, as the meds would need to be stopped.  For the Reyataz, the main thing to watch out for is jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes), which is not necessarily a reason to stop the meds.  Otherwise, the combo is one of those that's not too difficult to tolerate.

lostboy:
alterman,

That is my combo, so far no side effects (after 3 months). Best of luck to you.
