Follow-up Appt./Eye surgery update
« on: December 01, 2006, 12:09:55 PM »
Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to give a quick update on the eye surgery I had yesterday for the Ganciclovir implant to fight the cmv retinitis. The surgery was painless, and I only remember small parts of it. I thought it lasted about 10 minuets, and it was actually 45 minuets. I was really drugged up, which is what I wanted. It was out patient, so I was home by 8pm last night. Everything went well.

I have a follow-up later today, so I will let you know what the doctor says.

Thanks for all your good thoughts and prayers. I printed them all out, and read them before I went to the hospital.

Christine

12/4/06 Update

Hi Everyone,
I went to the opthamologist for the follow-up appointment. He said it looks good. I have some restrictions- can't lift anything heavy, can't bend from the waist, can't swim. Other than that, back to normal.

My eye is really red, a little swollen, and my vision is decreased (which is normal for the first few weeks until the eye adjusts to the implant). My eye feels a little scratchy, and a little pain if I blink hard.

Hopefully the implant will work, and save what vision I have left in my eye. I'll keep you all updated.

Christine

I hope the hospital parking fees weren't too expensive.

When I was in Miami those fees would always take my last $5.00..  In Sebring there is a football sized parking lot.. and it's pick and choose!

Sorry Theresa just had to comment ::)
