My MP3 player by Creative Technologies
« on: November 14, 2006, 10:31:06 PM »
I have had this MP3 player for 2 years or so. I like it...it gets the job done. LOL....Its the Zen Xtra something or other.

Anyway, the software was installed on my old computer...I cant find the disk and now Im on my laptop....what do I do?  I want to load some new songs onto my player but cant.  I tried going to their website and following the directions but no luck.

Can anyone help?  Thanks!!

Like foreplay, you might have to do it awhile before getting it right. I have an ipod so I am not much use. I would check out the zen site as well though.
Good luck.

Jeff, if you're running one of the newer versions of windows, you should be able to just hook it up and do it through Windows Media Player without having to install extra software or drivers.  I have The Creative Zen Micro and love it.

Just did it now....once i hook with the usb it says "new hardware found" and it tries to look for software or drivers or something...but it wont work.  I try opening media player and I hit F5 to refresh but it doesnt recognize it.

Hi Jeff,

On my (newer) Creative MP3 player, I just plug it in to a USB port.  Windows finds the hardware and installys any drivers automatically.  It then shows up as a drive under "My Computer" and I can just drag and drop MP3's on to it.  I don't think I even installed any software for it.

Also, go to www.creative.com, click on support, and follow the prompts.  Alternately, you can try this http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=213&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK=&nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+XP&region=1&Product_Name=ZEN+Xtra&Product_ID=9288&modelnumber=&driverlang=1033&OS=10&drivertype=0&x=28&y=15 and see if that's what you need.  Good luck!

How is the battery recharged on the Zen? Someone told me it's recharged through a powered USB port.
My Zen Nano uses 1 AAA battery and runs for a decent length of time before a new battery is needed.  My old (and hurricane Katrina ruined) Rio Carbon had a rechargeable battery and came with a docking station for charging as well as connecting to a receiver.
