Thinking of Starting Meds...Atripla ?????
« on: November 21, 2006, 02:58:57 PM »
Hi,

Went to see my doctor this morning. Within the past 4/5 months, my numbers dipped a bit: VL rose from by about 10K, and CD4 went down about 100 points.

The doctor is advising that I retake the test in about 3 weeks since I had flu at the time of the blood work.

She is advising that I consider starting meds if my CD4 and VL are consistent with my past two results (details in the signature).

If I have to start, i am thinking of taking Atripla.

Any advice re starting meds, and what to take. Currently, I am not resistant to any of the meds (based on genotype done around 4/06).

Regards, Danny

I just started on Atripla and so far have not had any problems.  Being that's it's just one pill I believe it to be one of the easiest of the meds to take.

The sustiva part of the pill is said to cause some psycho (depression) disorders in some, something I have to be careful of.

I take mine at 10 pm at night.   By 11 pm I'm feeling drunk and just go to bed..

   Goodluck..

Dan, by the looks of your numbers, you are in no hurry to make a decision to start. You still have time for a couple of blood draws before you need to make a decision.

I am taking Sustiva+Truvada=ATRIPLA. We donīt have Atripla in Europe yet, but it is a very easy to take medication. And if you are a bit lucky you should not have any problems. Good luck with it.

Hey Danny,

I do agree with Rod and the others. You do have some time before making your decision. You will want to have some more labwork done to see a trend before making a decision. As far as Atripla is concerned it is an easy regimen to take. Take care of YOU!

Hi Danny,

I also agree that maybe you should wait a little while before going on meds. Maybe you having the flu caused such a dip in CD4. When you feel better maybe do the labs again and see what the results will be.

Take care
