No one is interested in the atrocities committed by terrorists. But we are being taken to court for dressing terrorists as women and holding their heads under water?
My God, has anyone seen the pics of Guatamano? I have been in Jail(several times) and I have never seen a Jail that nice.
Man, I need a joint. Maybe I should start drinking again. Wheres the Nyquil?

It's only the beginning, Jake.  Wait till charges are pressed against Bush for everything else and watch Cheney have to take the blame.

We're going to see some major back peddling by this administration.

Jack,
The comment about the joint is the most rational thing I've ever heard you say. Are you mellowing with age?

Gee, I thought we were better than the terrorists.  I thought we were supposed to be the good guys.  Doesn't that mean that we hold ourselves to higher standards than the terrorists hold themselves?

No one is interested in the atrocities committed by terrorists.

Um....what the fuck are you talking about on that?

No one is interested in the atrocities committed by terrorists?

I guess that's the reason that there are people from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France (yes, the evil French), Germany, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, and the United Kingdom in Afghanistan since 9/11 trying to make things right in that country.

I guess that's why Spain just asked for a 38000 year jail term for the people who committed the Madrid bombing.

I guess that's why Israel sent troops into Lebanon.

I guess that's why the Russians are in Chechnya.

People do care about atrocities committed by terrorists.  Hell, even Iran condemned what happened on 9/11.

But that's really beside the point.  Is the best response to acts committed by terrorists to throw our values and cherished principles out the window and become like them?

I've said it before and YOU totally ignored the point I made when I asked how it is that the US executed Japanese after WW2 for the same kind of "harsh interrogation techniques", most specifically water-boardings, that the US is now engaging in.

And don't give me the usual right wing blather about "beheading" as if it's so awful.  Dead is dead.  For hundreds of years, beheading was the PREFERRED method of execution.   I don't see hanging, asphyxiation, electrocution, or firing squad being any more or less "brutal" than beheading.

Simply put Jack/Jake,

Are you going let the terrorists dictate our values and morality or are you going to stand up for what you believe is right?

NOT that I agree with torture (for the most part), however if you look at that quote in the context of the war of independence in 1776, that would be what the British would say regarding our guerilla tactics and the fact we wouldnt face them head on like GOOD soldiers.  And if I recall, that didnt work out so well for the British.

So I say, go ahead and do what you need to do to win, just make sure the press or I DO NOT hear about it.  You should be good enough at your jobs to keep all this a secret.
LIFE is not a race to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in a pretty and well-preserved body, but, rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming--WOW! WHAT A
RIDE!!!
