Are there support groups that meet to talk about this?
« on: October 04, 2014, 08:45:04 pm »
I live in NYC. I Was diagnosed 10 days ago. It's been a journey. I'm finding my way back to happiness - slowly but surely. I've tried to find a support group because I would like to talk to some people who are in a similar situation but I'm overwhelmed (emotionally I'm still fragile) by all the info on the net. any leads that anyone would have a group, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks..

I was recently in the same situation. I found lots of support on here and I thank this site for that. I was dx 3 months ago and the first month or so was really, really rough. I also looked for a support group and basically had no luck initially. Where in NY are you? Northshore hospital in manhasset has one every Wednesday night. It's a small group but very friendly and helpful. Lots of long time survivors there. If you need someone to talk with inbox me & and I send my #. Good luck to u.

Hey there, and welcome!

I live in NYC too, and if you're free tomorrow evening there is a support group that holds weekly/bi-weekly meetings in Chelsea. It's through Meetup: http://www.meetup.com/HIV-NYC-Support-Group-for-Gay-Men/
You have to RSVP, but it's worth the sign up. It'll be my first time going since my diagnosis this Summer! ;D

Also, check out the support groups that occur every Thursday at the LGBT Center in the West Village. I have yet to check that one out, but I'll be there soon no doubt.

*hugs*
