Watch A Beluga Whale 'Play Peekaboo' With Kids -- Or Is He?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/22/beluga-whale-kids_n_5699342.html

While many have reacted to the sequence with delight, some said the whale appeared in distress and others expressed dismay at its captivity. "Whales belong in an ocean, not a bathtub for our amusement," one viewer commented on YouTube.

I watched a few times.
Its so trippy - the contact boys and whales. so stick to the parameters as established in the public debated, - what if its open up to irony behind the action.
What if the wale is pissed and impatient with humans, but is acting his cute friendly wale schtick for his own devious escape or revenge plans.  The long burn. The humans won't be prepared for the revolution...
What if he's really angry and he discovers how joyful the boys are by the contact. SO he thinks, I want to eat and sallow you, smile smile, and you think i want to play. Hahahahahahahahah......

Or maybe a cigar is just a cigar and he's happy to play and thats it...

It doesn't feef so innocent.  It reads like multilayer communication and performance.

I feel very strongly that aquariums and zoos are prison camps for most of the animals and mammals they hold and am heartbroken and angered that they are allowed to exist . My thoughts when I saw that clip early yesterday was that it just reenforced my conviction that these creatures must suffer tremendously from being exploited in this way . I also hate it when people try to say that animals born in captivity do not know any difference because that is a lousy self serving twist of logic, the facts are that if they were in their own natural environment life for them would be much fulfilling. The same goes for the researchers that say we need captive animals so we can study them in order to save them, bullshit ... it reads to me as I beat you because I love you . These creatures do very well without us in the wild so if we are sincere in saving a whale we can stop poisoning the oceans and let them live in a healthy environment .

https://www.thedodo.com/why-this-video-of-a-beluga-wha-685343078.html?xrs=RebelMouse_fb
According to Dr. Lori Marino, a beluga behavior specialist with The Kimmela Center, the animal’s behavior is “absolutely definitively aggression.”

“The open mouth and posturing are typical of the way cetaceans express aggression and I’ve seen a lot in captivity in the very same circumstances. This poor animal is telling the kids: ‘Get away’. It’s a threat,” Dr. Marino told The Dodo.

“While belugas and other cetaceans in the wild make the same aggressive motions (open mouth, etc.) in this case, in my opinion, it is clearly due to the fact that these whales are crammed into this tank and have nowhere to go to escape the screaming kids poking at the glass.”

In other words, what many have chosen to see as an example of how captivity allows for a feeling of connectedness with whales, orcas and dolphins, is actually an indication of their suffering.
