FRANKLIN, Tenn. --

A large network of hospitals says hackers have stolen the personal information of 4.5 million patients, including in Florida.

Community Health Systems (CHS) operates more than 200 hospitals across the country.

The company said hackers broke into its computers and stole the names, Social Security numbers, birthdates, addresses and telephone numbers of 4.5 million patients.

CHS operates 26 hospitals throughout the state, including:

Bartow -- Bartow Regional Medical Center
    Brooksville -- Bayfront Health Brooksville
Crystal River -- Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center
Dade City -- Bayfront Health Dade City
Davenport -- Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center
Lake Wales -- Lake Wales Medical Center
    Melbourne – Wuesthoff Health System
Ocala -- Munroe Regional Medical Center
    Rockledge – Wuesthoff Health System
Spring Hill -- Bayfront Health Spring Hill
St. Cloud -- St. Cloud Regional Medical Center
St. Petersburg -- Bayfront Health St. Petersburg

Investigators determined the hackers are from China.

They said anyone who received treatment at a CHS hospital in the last five years or was even referred there by an outside doctor is affected.

CHS said it plans to notify the affected patients and offer identity theft protection.

These data breaches are getting out of hand.

I received a letter last month explaining our information may have been accessed along with many other Medicaid recipients. I live in Montana and this letter came from Oregon.
In the end someone had requested limit increases on my credit cards, but could not get past the information required to make these changes. Unlike most people who use their mother's maiden last name, (which is in the Medicaid systems), I use something else as a password. This is my guess as to why whoever could not finish the request.
As soon as I logged on I was prompted to give this information where I had left off during my request. A request I never made.
I changed all my security information.
