Another boring Sunday....

Another boring Sunday so I took a little detour to Crater Lake National Park.  If you're afraid of heights, not recommended since many of the roads have no shoulder and what is there is a few inches from a thousand feet down. I was white knuckling it at 7,000 feet.  The picture doesn't even begin to do it justice. It was so blue it made you dizzy looking at it for very long.

Those distortions in the water? Those are clouds reflecting.

That is beautiful Dan - I hate to admit that I have lived here as long as I have and never been to Crater Lake.  We spent our Sunday afternoon at the Hawthorne Street Fair, not far from the reservoirs that created a public stir recently....

Good to hear your doing well,

The most interesting part of the day was the picture that I couldn't take. There was nowhere to pull over. Apparently, with all the heat and turmoil with the creation of the crater, one of the by-products was pumice and some of it is still there. They have a 'Pumice Desert' just before you start circling the crater. So, here you are, trekking upwards of 7,000 feet and you round a bend and it hits you...this huge mauve filed made up entirely of small hits of pumice. The picture below is similar, but the color isn't exactly correct - it's pink and purple and incredible.....

Then, you round another curved and you're doing a Hail Mary and invoking Cher because there IS NO CURB AND ITS 1000 feet down!

Next up on the list is Coos Bay and Astoria! No need to do Rooster Rock because as much as I've heard about it.....I feel like I've been there. I'll eventually have to so I can send Willy the pictures.

I like the view.
I once had a moment when my brother and I decided to go up to the top floor of a new parking structure at a mall. We had four parking levels beneath us. I walk to the edge and look over. I backed away really quick and could not get close to the edge again. I felt as if I was going to fall as long as I was up there.
I was nineteen when I learned this about myself.
The odd thing is I like to go on rollercoasters and ferris wheels.
