Like many here I've been following your travails.  Glad you've received some well deserved great news.

In the din of daily life we can all easily forget what a miracle,  and blessing,  modern meds have been for us all.  Not everyone was so fortunate.  Thanks for reminding me.

Good luck.

Zach,

Great to hear.  Very cool CNN profiled your clinic and nurse.  For many, it probably helps patients to know she is poz and can relate.  I mean, you don't have to be poz to be a great doc or nurse, but I am sure it helps many to feel she can relate.

It is good they pointed out the numbers are not improving.  Infections are stable and increasing especially in younger folks and minorities.  When I check out sites like A4A, I'm noticing many more listing they are poz, than just a year ago.  And, many are 18-30.  And, that's just those on a site like that and sharing their status.

I like how the clinic actually takes patients resources and transportation into account.  They try to schedule different procedures/visits for the same day, so the patient doesn't have to come back two days later to see the dentist or therapist.  I have docs, who will just hand you an appt card and never ask what day/time is best for you.

The $36,000 max for ADAP had me wondering.  Do people get no help from ADAP, if they make more than that?  $36k doesn't go very far, especially after taxes.  You would do well to afford a modest apt and modest car.

Anyway, great news about you and great article.

Happy for you Zach  , and thanks for sharing  the link to your clinic. I feel so ashamed now. the other day when I was at my clinic I was upset there were 3 others there. I thought to myself I don't want the whole world to know. I will never think that again after reading that story. I guess I'm one of the lucky one with Hiv. everything went fast for me  dx March April blood work. meds in May. I will count my blessing from now on!

doc was hoping for faster results, but i'm ok with the long game

only drawback is he was going to let me go to every three months once i got above 100... we'll see next month, that'll be three in a row (hopefully) at UD and six months after restarting treatment

i feel good about this timeline

Have just returned from an hour in the sun on Fulham Rd which is very busy on a weekday.  The buses stopping all the time disgorging patients , visitors , workers , residents very pleasant to warm the.
 body with sun

Starbucks workers know my order now.

Here,s a thing it's easier to get out to the sun on my own here than it will be at home. That is one off the reasons I plan to get to Trinity Hospice as much as possible when home. Can take the dog with me  , enjoy the Garden, use the small Cafe and look at the rooms I hope to quietly die in a long time from now.

Am looking at wether to hire a wheel chair Zack. What is holding me back is the first 400 yards from my door will be  in posable for  me to navigate alone , will wait until I am home to decide.

Get the chair if you need it, and then hurry up and walk again. You'll grow lazy in those things. Starbucks is a sore topic this morning, I bought beans, I know I did. I remember bringing them into the house. After that, things are not so clear. So I have no cup of coffee at this hour. No tobacco to mix in the morning pipe. It's a barbaric existence, let me tell you.

I am training puppy to attack the cane. She keeps it in the corner where it belongs. Growls menacingly if it looks like I think on touching it. Took her out for her first swim ever this weekend, threw her in the river, sure enough she floats like a labrador and swims like a seal. Swimming was good physical therapy for me too. More of that to come.

Does your doctor or lab have a patient portal where you can review your labs?  For me, it's invaluable to review them and research anything before my appointments.  Does he allow his nurse to give your results over the phone?  I think it'd drive me a little batty even after all these years if I had to wait that long for results.

Not long ago, I was labs done weekly.  It slowly became every 2 weeks then monthly.  Slowly to every 3 months and now I go 4 months.  My doctor left it up to me if I want to go every 6 months.  I'm not comfortable going that long plus I enjoy our visits.

best wishes

oh yeah, i can call my nurse. but i also know she'd call me if there is even a blip. this is an experiment, i'll fess up if i can't last

six month visits may be a minute coming, and dropping the prophylactics will be a milestone

Do you get your labs done on the day you have your Doc appointment? I always get my labs done, at my docs request, 2 weeks prior to my appointment then we discuss the results. Been doing that for decades now.

realizing this is only four months in at this clinic. first month nurse called me. next month i called her promptly. last couple months i waited a little longer. doc and i sort of had a big talk when i got out hospital and laid out a course. since then we circle back to talk about the last labs real quick. long as we agree i'm on track we move on. personally i love the way he'll just rapid fire no bullshit, we cover alot of ground. i'll go into the city once a month, no more. when i go to three months it would be easier to start that sort of schedule. and need to find a dog sitter near the clinic, so near the dog park i hate getting that close and leaving her at home.

Understood. Waiting til October in the mean time seems logical to me. You are being treated and I'm sure the results will continue to show improvement. Can't blame you for wanting to spend time with that beautiful pup of yours.  :)

Congrat!

My ex got to undetectable too.

He took a drug "Holiday" for a couple of years.....totally against my advice. By the time he decided to go back on meds (I never let it go!)  his Ts were 100 and V load was very high. It took 18 months to get there, but he's undetectable.

I've been on the cocktail or whatever for a 10 years. 1000 Ts and 0 V-load.
