Does anyone know what drug combo was given to the 'Mississippi baby'?

I have searched everywhere and can't find the answer.

Roughly roundabout somewhere in the eighteenth or nineteenth century, Sodomite begat Homosexual out of moral, medical and legal models, bequeathing him Identity, who inbred with Nuclear Family and Industrialism to spawn Homophobia.

The pediatrician in charge of the child prescribed AZT, lamivudine, and nevirapine, the standard triple-drug combination used to prevent HIV acquisition in infants whose mothers were diagnosed during labor. But in this case, there was a twist: The doctor upped the nevirapine to a twice-daily dose, which Persaud noted is the level used to treat HIV-positive pediatric patients.

of course this "cure" probably only worked because ART may have prevented the establishment of any latent reservoir. Because of prenatal care, this situation rarely arises in the US; but if confirmed, this could transform the care of HIV-exposed infants around the world.

ps I found this info in the 6th entry when googling "croi mississippi baby cured"

Thanks leatherman!

Much appreciated.

I thought I had read that the baby was given stavudine + other drugs, not that my memory is the most reliable.

Cheers

There is intense speculation amoung the research community about the case.

One factor that may have helped in the case is the fact that newborns have an immune system still under construction, dominated by NAIVE CD4

Naive CD4 do not bear the CCR5 co receptor (yet) and, therefore, cannot be infected
