I NEED YOUR HELP! PLEASE HELP ME!
« on: April 22, 2014, 03:18:58 PM »
Hello administrators. I had an unprotected vaginal intercourse with a sex worker last November 19, 2013. 2 days after the encounter I felt a slight pain on my scrotum but it only lasted for a week no discharges whatsoever. I never thought of HIV for the first 2 weeks. But after hearing and seeing rise of the Numbers of HIV infected individual on my area as shown in the News and other social websites, the struggle started.

I became restless and I cant sleep at night anymore. I checked all the signs and symptoms of HIV on the internet and poof the misery was intensified. Rashes popped out at my back 1 day after having an oil massage ( 2 weeks after possible HIV exposure). After the oil massage I didn't take a bath for 24 hours since I took a 3 hour drive in a very hot weather condition. My car's AC was damaged so I settled to use the fan instead. Upon arriving on my place I relaxed for awhile then slept the whole night then took a bath late in the morning on the following day. By the way I sweated profusely while driving and my car has a new leather seat cover so I am not sure if my rash was due to profuse sweating and pores got clogged because of the oil that was used during the massage. The rash was like a small pinpoint blisters at the upper and lower back portion and every time I sweat it feels so horrible and it lasted for two weeks.

Rash which lasted for 2 weeks, headache for 2-3 weeks, tingling sensations of my hands and feet for 2 months, muscle aches for 2 months, burning skin sensation all over my body usually at the back and stomach area which is present until now, LBM 2 months after possible exposure, stomach ache which comes and goes and is usually present when I drink milk ( I am a milk lover by the way and this stomach ache issue only started recently) , I have ringworm infection in front of my ear 3 months post possible exposure (still present but I'm currently applying anti-fungal cream), neck lymph nodes is palpable approximately 1-2cm in size, chest tightness, jaw pain which lasted for a week, neck tightness which lasted for a week, had a mouth sore 3 months post possible exposure, white tongue and felt like it was burnt and it lasted for a couple of days and other symptoms that I forgot already.

I had a 3rd gen HIV test plus other STD test at 3 weeks post possible exposure but I was advised that all of which are just baseline data and I have to comeback after 3 months for another test and again at the sixth month mark. The doctor gave me antibiotics (not PEP) despite the negative results of std and I took it as prescribed by physician.

I took another test in another clinic for STDs in the 3 month mark namely HIV 1 and 2 antibody and p24 antigen hiv 1 ECLIA (Roche), hepa b(Hbsag) and hepa c. Miraculously despite all the symptoms it all came out negative. The doctor told me that the test are already conclusive and I don't have HIV. However when I talked to the medtech she said I have to retest again after 6 months post exposure and 12 month post exposure for technicalities purposes and to make sure.

Now my question is,

1. Are my test results (HIV, Hepa B, Hepa C) conclusive?

2. Do I have to retest again at the 6 month and 12 month mark as what the medical technologist said?

3. Basing from hundreds of people you have encountered here with the same issue, did you ever heard of someone who had a HIV non reactive result in the 3 month mark and got positive on the 6th month mark?

I really hope you would respond on my queries. I don't have someone to talk to regarding this matter only me and God. I really need your enlightenment. Pls help :(

Kalel,

Testing guidelines suggest testing at 6 weeks pas the last incident and then at 12 weeks to confirm the results.  You have reliably tested negative as of your 3 month test and no further testing is required.  Whatever symptoms you are experiencing are NOT due to HIV, so work with your doctor to find the source of your symptoms, as it HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIV.

Thank you very much Joe. I am really stressed and I guess anxiety has already taken over me. I am very paranoid that even a slight disturbance in my body such as toe pain or even small bumps makes me think it is all connected to HIV. Based on your experience, did you notice someone posted here that he/she tested at 13th week mark and the result was negative but when he tested on the 6th month it came out reactive?

The test you took was conclusive in you being negative.  The science behind testing is very sound and accurate.  HIV is unable to somehow "hide" or miss being detected by the latest tests and a 13 weeks negative, will not change and you have no further need of testing, no matter what anyone tells you.

You are confirmed as being negative.

I can tell you, that we see plenty of folks, who "believe" they have HIV and the anxiety/stress from that can cause many symptoms, that have nothing to do with HIV.  Excessive amounts of stress can and often do manifest themselves physically and while troublesome, most subside when the stress is reduced.

The risk factors for HIV are ...

Sharing IV drug needles immediately after use.
Unprotected anal and vaginal sex.
Mother to child during or shortly after birth.
Very specific healthcare situations.

Use condoms for vaginal and anal sex consistently and correctly and you will avoid HIV infection, it is that simple.

Thank you very much Joe. This encounter really changed my perspective with life. To come to think of it, it was my first time encounter with a csw and after this I will never do it again in my entire life. I have put my life in jeopardy.

Thank you for giving me brief and precise information. God bless you

Hi Kale, just for the record and to remember.

Only a small group of people seroconvert after the 13 week window period, this group includes those who are receiving immuno-suppressive therapy after transplant procedures, cancer patients who are receiving chemotherapy and long term injecting drug users.

Enjoy life and stay safe.
