Worry about cut
« on: April 06, 2014, 12:25:38 PM »
Hello. I am writing because I am worrying about two reasons which maybe catch hiv.

1) I have been in aquapark (~4 years ago) and I cut myself on plastic/metal object (this is kind of damaged treshold maybe) on my foot. I remember that wound is top of the foot, wound was bleeding, medium deep (I don't remember well how deep), maybe veins was damaged (I wasn't needed bandage and stitches).
Lot of people was in this place and somebody may did the same before me some seconds.
That's may contracting hiv? I should go for the test?

2) My collegue prick me with pin (compass drafting or sewing pin - something like that), before me, he was prick other friend (who maybe have hiv) with the same pin. I think wound is deep. Between pricked me and my friend ~ 10 seconds. In that accident may contracting hiv?

I wait for answers, is important to me. I have read some articles and cases but answers are different. Sorry for my english. Thank you.
Regards.

You are worrying needlessly. HIV is a fragile virus and is not transmitted in any of the ordinary ways you have described. There is no need for testing nor for further concern on your part about those incidents. Get on with your life.

Thank you for answer.
But I have anxiety - I didn't write that I have had symptoms similar to flu (in first case - Aquapark) about one month after accidents. This symptoms durable ~ 5 days.
No risk still - even if blood was on this damaged treshold (in this place all people was barefoot, it isn't in water), and my wound is deep?

Isworry,

HIV is not transmitted by casual contact, nor could it be transmitted in the manner you are concerned over.  You did not have a risk and you do not need to test over this NON-RISK.

Joe
