Doctor recommendation for San Diego?
« on: January 22, 2014, 09:47:18 PM »
Could anyone advise of id doctor in city of San Diego. I enrolled in Plam Springs with Desert Aids Project (which seems to cater mainly to those in financial difficulty) and my wait of 7 weeks from GP diagnosis to see ID, seems too much.

I am moving to San Diego and my research online is tmi.

My insurance is with Anthem and had finally narrowed my decision to the UCSD Owens Center.
I'm sure they are efficient etc. but of course Yelp reviews beg to differ.
Any insight would be appreciated.

Registered @ UCSD Owens Center in San Diego on Thursday 30th. Jan., see case manager and then ID, both on Mon 3rd. Feb.
Somewhat more efficient than Desert Aids Project in Palm Springs which was taking 7 weeks from dx to seeing ID.

I was seen at the owens center and had good doctors and excellent care . You should have no problems there at all . It been since 2001 so if anything the care is the same or better .

Thanks for the reply.
As I'm sure you've seen in my other replies and post, I'v registered also @ Owens Center.
Being totally new to this and knowing nobody in the same situ. ('partner in crime' goes through L J VA Hosp.) it's comforting to get a positive recommendation from someone directly connected to specific facility.

It's like a breath of fresh air, one more box checked and a little less weight upon my shoulders.

Thx Jeff.

Best ID doctor I've ever been treated by. He's busy, might take a bit to get an appointment but it's worth it. Worked with me on billing/copays too. I can't say enough good things about him.

UCSD Owens Clinic. Highly recommended.
Pay parking right outside, Organised, older building but clean.
Efficient scheduling of appointments, you get to see different drs one appt after the other on same day.
On my next visit I am scheduled to see 2 doctors + I signed up with diff office connected to UCSD to do with retention, all 3 appts between 9 and 11am No delays whatsoever with reference to scheduling. Prompt and informative.
Phone app to receive results and review past and upcoming appointments.
Absolutly no complaints.
