cant shake this overwhelming feeling she lied about my test.
« on: January 23, 2014, 10:20:36 PM »
I was potentially exsposed to hiv because of a stupid stupid one nigbt stand almost 3 years ago. I dont remember ever having any swollen lymph nodes or any rash of any kind but I do remember getting terribly sick a few weeks after that night. Thought it was the flu. Well I have been having some health issues lately...a bacterial infection i can't seem to get rid of and thrush out of no where. Then I remembered my fiance having a swollen groin earlier in the last year and also getting shingles and my mind took over and I went in to full anxiety attacks.    I went to planned parenthood to get a rapid test but it was close to their closing time when I arrived. They decided to allow me to do the test anyway and I had drank a little coke a cola right before I went in to get the test but she said it wouldn't affect the results. Anyway, she did the test and called me back to give me the results but before she held the test up she looked at it first and then held it up but I couldnt actually see that there WERENT two lines on tbe stick so now im almost totally convinced the test was positive and she just didnt want to deal with a spastic woman hyperventilating in her office at closing time on a saturday. I wish I could just believe her but NOW I have two swollen lymph nodes in my groin and a boil that just will not go away. I really feel lime im losing my mind!!!!!

Planned Parenthood and clinics do not lie about important test like this . Its paranoid thinking on your part .

The bottom line is if you cant trust the results go test again .

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thank you for your response. Since my mistake almost 3 years ago I have been in a loving and commited relationship and get regular std testing just to be sure.  I had always assumed that hiv test were included but I researched and found its something you need to specifically ask them to preform. I will make an appointment with my doctor for another test just to be sure. And its condoms from now on for this girl. Again, thank you for you response!!!
