Am I at risk?
« on: September 24, 2013, 08:16:29 PM »
I recently went to a guys house and we made out for about 15 minutes (including deep french kissing). I also have gingivitis, but I don't believe my gums were bleeding at the time. I noticed two days later that I had a small sore on the side of the tongue, but this could have formed after the fact since I was chewing on my tongue afterwards out of nervousness. I proceeded to give him a hand job and there was substantial pre cum that got on my hand and all over my shirt. I had a couple small scabs on my hand that didn't appear to be open wounds. At one point he put his tongue deep in my ear. He touched my butt cheeks but I don't believe he touched my anus. Before it went further he told me that he was hiv positive and claimed to have an undetectable viral load. I told him that we needed to stop. About 5 minutes later I went to the bathroom and briefly touched my penis as I urinated, there could have still been pre cum on my hand. I the washed my hands but not my arms, there could have been pre cum on the arms and I could have rubbed my eye or nose, but I don't remember. 38 hours later I began PEP. From what I described do you think I am at risk of getting HIV. I am really worried.

Nothing you did held even the remote risk for acquiring and HIV infection . The risk factors for HIV are ....

Sharing IV drug needles immediately after use.
Unprotected anal and vaginal sex.
Mother to child during or shortly after birth
Very specific healthcare situations.

You did not have a risk and your certainly do not need PEP . I did read ALL of your concerns and can tell you with certainty you could not and did not get HIV in this situation .

How effective is PEP if started at 39 hours after exposure?  I heard it is recommended to be taken within 36 hours. I was 3 hours late.

The recommendation is 72 hours and you are well within that . You didn't have risk so you are going to be HIV negative PEP or no PEP , its that simple .

Do not start another thread and only post in this one no matter how long since your last post . You can visit your profile and select show own post and it will take you here .

Thank you for responding to my questions. Now what if the guy had some pre cum on his fingers and touched the inside of my butt cheaks? I don't think he touched the anus, but let's just say he did. Would the risk still be low?

I read your concerns carefully , you did not have a risk . We are confident and you can be too that the ONLY risk factors for HIV are ...

Sharing IV drug needles immediately after use.
Unprotected anal and vaginal sex.
Mother to child during or shortly after birth
Very specific healthcare situations.
