Never got one before. Are 'flu shots strongly recommended for everyone who's HIV-positive? Can there be complications from the shot itself for those of us who are virally enhanced?

Her finely-touched spirit had still its fine issues, though they were not widely visible. Her full nature, like that river of which Cyrus broke the strength, spent itself in channels which had no great name on the earth. But the effect of her being on those around her was incalculably diffusive: for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs.

Yes!

No, unless you're allergic to eggs. There is a live version (given up the nose).  You shouldn't get that one.  You have to do the needle one.

Got mine!  Have received a flu shot every year, (except for one), for the past 9 years.

I had to BEG my Dr. to get me a flu shot. Hopefully it will be given to me this coming Monday.

My HIV doc told me to get the shot from my GP so I would not have to pay for it...

Well, I had to pay by BEGGING. What sort of a country do we live in here? It gets worse every day!

What reason did your doctor give for not wanting to give the shot?

My HIV Dr. is my GP.  I have my next appointment after Thanksgiving so I'll just have to suck it up for the next 6 weeks.

My Father used to give us our flu shots.  Then one year my Mother and I got really, really sick with the flu, of course.  I decided then and there never again.  Well I almost made good on my promise.  I went a good 30 years without the shot.    Then I got my diagnosis and my DR told me I had no choice.  Because my immune system is compromised I had to have the shot.

Whatever.

Got mine two weeks ago. Mine wasn't painless, but not bad. The nurse was a little out of practice, I think. Or, maybe it was a dull needle.

Anyway, I get one every year. It's about the only time I get poked these days.

HUGS,

I had mine last Thursday and aside from a sore arm for a little bit, all was well
Guess it coulda been worse, had labs drawn last Tuesday and some new cow did it and was jiggling the tubes around whilst attached to a needle stuck in my arm.  Um hello, that's my arm, that hurts  >:(

I got mine two weeks ago at work.  They're free for all employees.  It didn't hurt at all and was only mildly noticeable.  I've gotten them for about the past 10 years.  I had the flu once really bad; it was then that I decided to get the shots.

Mine arrives during my meeting with a dietician (at the request of a new nurse practititioner, not that I felt that I should take up her time).  For those considering a flu shot, the knowledgable nurse said that since the flu is not expected until February in the U.S., getting it later is actually better (for what reason, I am nor sure).  Try your hiv specialist since he/she would tend to have flu shots available given the patient load as well as the right version.  Win

You got a plaster?? ::) No wonder the NHS is having a funding crisis. ;D

Got mine two weeks ago, had one for about ten years now with no side effects (or plaster) whatsoever.

I have never had one since being diagnosed 20 years ago.
I know it is controversial, but my homeopath ( who is a GP as well) strongly advices me not to have any similar shots done.
I have never had the flue since and never used antibiotics since 1995.

Guess the alternative meds help me.

I keep forgetting to get my flu shot.  They are free to employees at work (I work in a hospital), and I do know I need to get one--it's just hard to drag myself out of bed into the cold after working 3rd shift to get a shot.  I do need it--those patients just love to hack and cough all over you.
