unexplained symtoms...7 months negative ELISA
« on: October 22, 2006, 01:06:37 PM »
I received an unprotected oral sex from a sex worker on 03 march 2006 (no vaginal or anal sex) which I believe was hiv+(no anal or vaginal sex). After a week I felt very tired all the time and I had a sore throat so I went to a doctor which gave me amoxyllin 500mg 3 times a day but that did not help me and till now I have recurrent pain in my neck and throat which sometimes is painful but sometimes it feels like it is stiff and sometimes pain in my muscles near armpits and in the neck. I also now have what is called geographic tongue after exposure, also my tongue is always white and if I brush hard the white coating gets removed.
One month after my possible exposure I went to the STD clinic and got all my possible STD tests done which included (syphilis, chamlidya, gorraehia, HIV1,HIV2,Hepatitis C) but all came back negative. But my problems persisted so I got another antibody test done at 2 months which also came back negative. After that I got a swollen armpit in the third month which hurted me a lot for couple of days and finally I got tested for hiv at 3 months, which also came back as non-reactive. Then I went to India and I had severe pain in my neck and throat and I again got tested in India at 5 months mark and the reading of elisa test were .02 and .03 .After that i also had elsia after 7 months and it also came back negative.

My problem is that I have few days when I feel that something is wrong with my body and I feel very tired and also there is pain in my neck and throat which comes and goes and I also found some hairs grown on the back of my tongue and it really worries me a lot .One more thing, I also have small pimples on the chest and also red red and pink blotches and thet have become lately very itchy and they are there for last 6 months now and I think it is "Seobrrachic dermatitis”. I am really scared of hiv and I really don’t know what really my problem is i.e late seroconversion or other subtypes..I am afraid as these symtoms are not going away. My lymph nodes also gets swollen for 3 or 4 days occasinally, sometimes under the jaws and sometimes in the armpits and sometimes in the groin. Also thrush is getting worse. Please help ...

Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! It's way past time to stop with the HIV testing. You were never at risk for transmission from having received oral sex. There's never been a case of transmission in that manner and you aren't going to make history by becoming the first.

For reasons unknown to me you are stuck on the idea of HIV being the issue when you have no basis in HIV science for that. And most certainly not after having repeatedly tested negative for the HIV virus.

If you continue to have troubling symptoms that's something to discuss with your doctor. Whatever is going on has nothing to do with HIV.

Really.

Hi,

You were absolutely not at risk for HIV in this situaiton. There is no need for HIV testing nor for futher concern.

What you need to do is discuss your symptoms in detail with your doctor so that he/she can make a diagnosis of what is really causing problems.

Whatever it is has nothing to do with HIV even if your mind is telling you otherwise. Your fears have no basis in HIV science. Period.

Cheers,

Thanks Andy, i really appreciate what u guys are doing here, may god bless u all. I was really worried about HIV(because i went to an ENT specialist and he told me that u have to keep ur fingers crossed as he has found people to seroconvert after 8 or 9 months and i was really scared) , late seroconversion and now atleast i one worry is over i.e "HIV". I think i acquired some kind of auto immune disease during that exposure.Do u know any disease with similar kind of symtoms i.e thrush and yeast infections on penis, etc.

I hope that ENT specialist knows more about ears, noses and throats than he seems to about HIV. Because that was total hooey he gave you about HIV transmission and seroconversion.

The CDC is quite conservative in this matter and has for sometime acceptec 13 weeks after a risky incident as the point at which you can get a definitive test result.

Happily HIV is not an issue for you. Keep it that way and always use a condom everytime you have intercourse.

Cheers.

Hi Andy,
The thing that worries me the most is the rash on the chest that i believe is "Seborrheic dermatitis " and i have read that it only occurs on chest in case of hiv infected people and also yeast infections like thrush on tongue and penis.Have u ever encountered a case like me before and if "yes"? then please guide me..

worried,

I don't know where you've been getting your information from, but it simply is not true that ONLY hiv positive people get seborrheic dermatitis on their chest or thrush in the mouth. Both of these can and do happen to hiv negative people. What you "believe" to be either seborrheic dermatitis or thrush may be nothing of the sort. Stop trying to diagnose yourself and take yourself to a doctor.

Whatever is going on, it has nothing to do with hiv. Not only did you NOT have a risk - getting a blowjob is NOT a risk - you have conclusively tested negative. You do not have hiv. Go see your doctor about your tongue and rash and let the doctor decide what the problem is.

worried,

That photo you linked to is a picture of something called ringworm (aka tinea body), which is a fungal infection that ANYONE can get.

Whatever is going on, it has nothing to do with hiv. Not only did you NOT have a risk - getting a blowjob is NOT a risk - you have conclusively tested negative. You do not have hiv. Go see your doctor about your tongue and rash and let the doctor decide what the problem is. We cannot diagnose you here, you need to see a qualified doctor in person.

Oy Vey mate your doctor is either completly daft or winding you up a bit. I am no expert and I too am an ex-worry wort whom was obsessed with his statud. Learn from your mistake be safe and stop second guessing your results. Your posts made me think about how insane I have been acting in the last four to five months. See a doctor about the issues at hand you are negative just as I am. I tested all the way out to four months and two days. In mathmatical terms that is over 120 days!!! Everything that Rapidrod,Ann, and Andy are telling you is the G-ds honest truth. I hope this gets posted as I have asked a research Virologist about an 8 month seroconversion who works at Washington University medical school in St. Louis and he says that whatever your ENT told you was wrong and ignorant. I suggest you email an actual HIV doctor if you cannot believe the positive people on this site whom are telling you repeatedly you are NEGATIVE. Be well mate. ;)

If you cannot accept the fact that getting a blowjob is not a risk for hiv infection and not only that, but you have conclusively tested hiv negative, then it's time you not only saw your medical doctor, but it's also time you sought out some counseling to discover why you insist on hanging on to being hiv positive when clearly you are not and furthermore, COULD NOT be as you have not had a risk.

You are headed for a time out if that's what it takes to encourage you to see help from the appropriate venue. This forum is not that venue.

Hi Guys ,
Sorry for bothering u again but for last couple of days i am felling very sick and my throat is sore and aching and today i found blood coming from it, so i went to doctor and doctor couldn't found anything wrong but i am still having very sore throat , also some stiffness and aching neck from back. Whenever i search on the internet for persistant sore throat "HIV" coms into picture which again drags me into considering re-testing for hiv. This sore throat is sometimes mild but sometimes its very bad like i am experiencing now but it never completely goes away, i am also having white tongue for last 6 months.

Then I suggest you not google the internet. If the only thing you found on the internet about your symptoms was HIV, then you need to take a computer class. You didn't have a risk and you don't have HIV. Whatever is wrong with you is unrelated to HIV.

The problem is when u make mistake that u should have never  committed, moreover  these symtoms whom u don't get answers for , it really leaves u nowhere except u guys who are always there.
The problem is that  my parents are stressing me to get married and i am unable to get married because of these wierd symtoms and i keep my parents busy with excuses. I don't know untill how long i can handle that.

Thanks
