Really?! News Fail

(1/2) > >>

tednlou2:
This station reported the "names" of the pilots on the recent crash.  I worked in TV news.  I am pretty sure I would have caught this.  I can be a little slow, but I still think this would have gotten my attention.  They apologized and said this was info given to news outlets from the FAA.  I have a hard time believing that excuse.  I think someone must have quickly seen it online somewhere, and went with it.

Stations have been fooled like this several times, but usually on the morning shows where they read viewer birthday names.  Someone would send in a birthday announcement for Suk MiDik, or something like that.  And, even national networks have been fooled by putting people on the air after some tragedy, and they would seem sincere at first, but would then curse or do the Howard Stern thing.
