Very Concerned
« on: June 02, 2013, 10:43:50 AM »
Just last evening I was with a lady and we were fooling around. No intercourse, no kissing. I was fingering her and I pulled my finger out and realized that she was on her menstrual cycle. I washed my hands right away with hot soap and water. I asked her if she was hiv + she said she was hiv -. Then after talking with her more, she tells me she is an escort and had sex earlier and I begin to panic. I rushed out of the club right away.I do bite my nails, that is my concern. I did not have any open cuts except short nails, real short. Am I in any danger?

Hi Concerned , you did not have a risk for HIV . The risk of sexually exposing your self to HIV comes from unprotected vaginal or anal intercourse . There has never been a case of HIV being transmitted in the manner you are concerned about because its simply not the way HIV is transmitted .

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care checkup, including but not limited to HIV testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine checkups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine HIV tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than HIV. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid HIV infection. It really is that simple!

You are worrying needlessly. HIV is not passed in the manner you are concerned about. Sexually the ONLY confirmed risks for the transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. As long as condoms are used consistently and properly for those activities you will be well protected.

This time there is no need for testing.

Thank You so much guys, I was concerned because of all the horror stories you hear other people spout out. I was thinking OMG my finger was in an air tight area, and I bite my nails, so I must have gotten infected. The human mind can be a great friend and sometimes an even greater foe. Thank You for all your work guys.

You are most welcome . If we thought there was even a slight risk we would have told you so that you could test . Its safe to move on and put this behind you .
