Prezista Norvir Truvada or Reyetaz Norvir Truvada
« on: March 01, 2013, 05:15:49 PM »
Hello everyone, A quick history: I have have been Poz for about 9 years started out on Sustiva, Truvada, I then made a change to Atripla, which didnt work for me right away. There was an element to the Atripla that my body didnt like. So went back on S and T. My doc then put me on Isentess and Truvada. I had been getting very dizzy on S and T, so he thought that Isentress would be better. Well it was a bit better but not much. Had to take the both Isentress at night because it was making me so tired and stressed. But the dizziness never went away.So my doc had me stop taking the Truvada to see if I would get better, and I did.  So we figured out that for the most part it was the Truvada causing the problem. So tried some different combos along with Stribild but along with not getting the dizzines to go away, my Viral count wont go UD. So I am going to have to live with the dizzines and keep Truvada. But need to know which is better:

Prezista Norvir Truvada, or Reyetaz Norvir Truvada?
Isentress could be something that I go back on but the above are a 1 a day combo.
Is Lipo a real problem with either combo? If so when could I expect that to happen?
Thanks

Oi, :) Iam not sure why. When I asked him about Prezista he said he had no other patients on it. So Iam thinking he is only prescribing what he knows. I saw Kivexa here so I would like to know more about it. If anyone knows more please let me know.
Thanks Um abraco pra vc tembem

Oi, because of blood in urine what origin could not be identified so the docs suspected Reyataz was the cause

Cheers

started out on Sustiva, Truvada, I then made a change to Atripla, which didnt work for me right away. There was an element to the Atripla that my body didnt like. So went back on S and T.

Do you realise that Atripla, and Truvada plus Sustiva are the exact same combos?

Truvada is a two-drug combo pill, containing two drugs from the NRTI class, tenofovir and emtricitabine.

Atripla is a three-drug combo pill, containing the two drugs found in Truvada, plus Sustiva. The only difference between the two combos is that one (Sustiva plus Truvada) is a two pill combo, and Atripla is a single pill combo. They both contain the exact same drugs in the exact same dosages. It's no wonder you didn't experience any improvement in side-effects when you switched from Truvada plus Sustiva to Atripla.

Prezista Norvir Truvada, or Reyetaz Norvir Truvada?

When I was choosing my first combo, I knew I didn't want anything to do with Sustiva and I also knew I wanted a once-a-day combo. I narrowed it down to Prezista + Norvir + Truvada, or Reyataz + Norvir + Truvada.

I went with the Prezista combo because it seems to have one of the lowest side-effect profile of currently available combos.

I decided against using Reyataz because of the bilirubin issue that so many experience on Reyataz. (It can harmlessly increase bilirubin levels. While it's harmless, it can make the whites of your eyes yellow, and in some people, the yellow colouring can extend to the skin.)

I'm very happy with my choice and it's done wonders for my numbers in a short space of time.

If you truly believe that the drugs in Truvada are what's causing your dizziness (Isentress can cause insomnia in some, so it wouldn't surprise me if it can cause dizziness in some as well), you should talk to your doctor about substituting Truvada with another NRTI combo pill called Epzicom (aka Kivexa), which contains abacavir and lamivudine.

Once caveat with Epzicom is that you should be screened for abacavir sensitivity. This happens in a small percentage of people. The screening involves a blood test to see if you have the genetic marker that points to having the sensitivity.

Anyway, I would recommend you try the combo with Prezista (with the Norvir boost) and either Epzicom or Truvada. Either way, it's a well tolerated combo for most people. And it works well against the virus.

You can read more about the meds in our Drug Information pages.

    Hi Brazil ,
I'm on  Prezista Norvir Truvada , I had been on   Reyetaz Norvir Truvada  for about 8 years ?

I feel wonderful , all things considered  .
No longer do I spend 4 hours in the bathroom every morning , I can now travel without fear of a unexpected bowel movement !!!!!
My body could no longer handle the effects of the Reyetaz .    I was turning yellow and now have gall stones  :(

I was going into liver failure caused by Reyetaz !!!!

Reyetaz now comes with a warning about  Kidney and liver damage as far as I have seen .

I hope you do well on your new meds .

Hello Ann, I do know that Atripla is Sustiva Truvada, but I had a reaction to whatever  bounds them together. The reaction was an Allergic one. But I dont even remember what it was. The switch had nothing to do with my dizziness, my doc just liked the 1 pill a day so that the Ins co-pay is less.

Thanks Weasel you to.

So my doc is looking into both Prezista, and Kivexa. He dosent know of Kivexa at all so will see. I am leaning to Prezista just from what I read here. There seems to  be less negatives about it. :) Its to bad that Stribild is not working for me but I really want to get to UD again. It appears its just no potent enough for me.
