...

You have completely accepted being HIV+ and have no worry at all about it?  Except that you are complaining here about things like your physician, and your pharmacy.

Why are you raining on my parade? I can pretend to be unhappy about being HIV+ if that would suit your needs. :)

I have been curious also about your easy acceptance of your HIV status , could it be that concern for the sticker shock / future possible health ramifications hasn't set in yet  ?

Im all for making lemon aid when life gives you lemons but HIV is a lemon drink from a bottomless pitcher .

Another reason it's simpler to just be positive and get on with it.

If you're negative, you never really know your status.

I know my status now. ;) And it's one less thing to worry about.

Now if I could just get these student loan people to realize that I will be dead before I have $6000 to just give away. How *can* I get them to stop wasting paper? Do they think I'm just sitting here laughing at their expense, swimming in gold dubloons and lighting joints off rolled up hundreds?

This life of Reilly is serious fucking business. :D

The only way to get them off your back is to request a permanent disability form.  You'd have to have a doctor (MD or physchiatrist) to say that your health condition is a permanent disability and is not expected to improve.  I know they have to list specific medical conditions and specific limitations.  If accepted, it goes into a 2-3 year trial period, where they stop trying to collect.  After that, it is often discharged completely.

You don't have to be on SSDI to qualify.  In fact, even if Social Security has deemed you disabled, you still have to go through the Dept of Ed's process.  That always seemed odd to me.  The govt has deemed you disabled, but you still have to get a doc to say you are disabled.  And, many docs have that optimistic outlook (which is not a bad thing) that you will be able to return to work someday.  So, it can be hard for a doc to sign off that you are never expected to improve and would never be able to work again, even if you're in really bad shape now and expected to be in that shape for the near future.

I don't understand why people get all worked up over HIV. It's just a disease.

Really? I suppose you could be right, it really is "just a disease" isn't it, it's a pity that in the last 6 years 10 of our dear friends in the forums died from this wee thing they call AIDS..but hey!! it's not big deal right!

I think your statement will be seen, to many here I'm sure,  as an insult to all those who have lost loved ones to this disease, so despite the fact that we now have meds that are keeping us alive longer, you need to remember HIV is and always will be, until they find a cure, a very big deal.

I love the forums. I feel like I almost love some of you. I love exchanging ideas, but I'm not mature enough for this. I can't take being attacked constantly for

FEELING
WHAT
I
FEEL

which isn't in accordance with someone on this forum.

MY FEELINGS ARE MINE. MINE ALONE.

I don't speak for you or for any of your friends who have died. THat's not my baggage. I sympathize, but

WE ARE ALIVE.

And no, killfoile. I'm not slamming the forum, but if I were, that's my fucking feeling to feel.

It's not your fault that I feel any of this. It is ENTIRELY my fault, and I take full responsibility. I am sorry that I can't make this work. I am sorry that I stirred up this boring old fight about

WHO
EXPERIENCES
HIV
PROPERLY (?)

But I can't make this work. But this method of communication is not good for my long-term health.

I really wish you all the best. I really, really do.

When you said HIV was no big deal for you, I understood exactly what you meant.  For you.  You weren't disrespecting anyone or the departed.  Maybe it is how you really feel, or a coping mechanism, but it wasn't disrespecting what others deal with.

And, I see members say all the time it is just a virus.  Many say, "It has no power over you, unless you give it power."  So, you're not giving it power.  Good for you.  I wish I could do that.

Being in your current financial and shelter situation, it is very healthy to not think of the virus as being a huge deal for YOU.  You have other things to worry about.  And, you are in care, so you take that part seriously.

Hi Ted

What he actually said was "I don't understand why people get all worked up over HIV. It's just a disease".

Of course people are still get all worked up, it's because people are still dying from this disease.

I'm doing OK living with this virus and I hope you are too, but I don't think either one of us would have said something like that out of respect for those who have died from this virus and for those are are still dying.

I'm glad he is doing well, he really just needs to think about what he is saying before he posts, and to be honest I think he over reacted a little, with a definite touch of the dramatics, there was no need to delete all his posts..come on really?

Thanks for the advice. Here's some for you.

Just like killfoile, you pull a soundbite out and act like some sanctimonious holder of the keys. What you just wrote is 100% NOT the context of what I was saying. My quote, O MASTER OF THE HIV AND DEFENDER OF THE SACRED DEAD was that I don't see why people get so worked up over THEIR own fucking disease. Had you read before attacking, you would have known that. We go out of our way to say we're just like everybody else. I say it in this context, and suddenly I'm defaming all of YOUR dead friends?

What about MY dead friends? I AM JUST AS HIV+ AS YOU.

Read that again, bub. READ IT SLOWLY

I
AM
JUST
AS
HIV+
AS
YOU

And you have not right to say such a bullshit thing to me. Such a disrespectful cowardly thing to me. NO RIGHT.

I know I'm about to be banned, and I'm not coming back anyway. You (annie whoever the hell you are - thanks, btw, for introducing yourself before calling me pretty much the worst thing a person can be) only care about slander and sounding holy and making other people feel like shit. But if you were half as interested in HIV and HOW IT AFFECTS PEOPLE TODAY, you would read what I wrote on the very topic that you THOUGHT I was talking about.

http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=46911.msg576924#msg576924

I am HIV+. And I'm not going to let ANYONE. ESPECIALLY positive people with chips on their shoulders from people who are gone (AND I HAVE AS MANY FRIENDS IF NOT MORE GONE AS YOU - SO DON'T PULL THAT SHIT WITH ME.)

We are here now. I'm going to live. What are you going to do?

I split these posts out of the original Your Mother Liked It Bareback thread - for several reasons.

1. Oksikoko decided to delete ten of his most recent posts in this thread. I can only discern what went on because some people quoted a few of the posts he deleted. Deleting posts hours after they've been posted often makes replies nonsensical. It's annoying.

2. These posts have little, if anything, to do with the theme of the original thread.

3. I could have locked the original thread and I was tempted to do just that. However, I re-read the entire thread and it's a good discussion.

4. I knew that if I didn't lock the thread or remove the hijack, the original thread would never have stayed anywhere close to the original topic.

Rather than putting this split topic into the trash, I've left it up on the forum in the interest of transparency. The action I've taken isn't censorship, it's an attempt to keep an important subject on track. Nothing more, nothing less.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

As a general FYI, I'm adding comments to this thread that I made in Oksikoko's other locked thread.

For the record, we do not permit people to use the edit function as a means to delete posts. It's there to correct mistakes or add additional information. Erasing entire posts hours after they've been posted often renders any subsequent replies nonsensical.

It is not to be used as a way to get around being given a Time Out after making inflammatory remarks.

It's not to be used as a means of passive-aggressively lashing out when you receive replies you don't like.

Be prepared to own what you say here - or don't bother saying it.

The occasional use to delete one misplaced post is ok (ie when you accidentally posted something in the wrong thread). Other than that, it's a good way to earn yourself a Time Out, as the OP has learned.
