UNPROTECTED ORAL SEX FROM A CSW
« on: February 13, 2013, 01:56:42 PM »
Hello specialists, I am freaking out here. I am a straight male that had 2 encounters with CSWs in a brothel in Brazil:

- The first one, in 01/25/2013, we only had PROTECTED vaginal sex, with very deep kisses. Four hours before I had shaved my testicles area with a machine;

- The second one, in 01/30/2013, we had PROTECTED vaginal sex and I received UNPROTECTED oral sex during 30 seconds and very deep kisses. I had a very little wound in the interior of my lips. We made mutual masturbation too, with the same hand touching vagina and penis;

Starting in the 02/01/2013, I had a  mouth herpes event and viral pharyngitis, diagnosed by a otolaryngologist. I didn't have fever neither swollen limph nodes.

I have some questions for you:
1) Do I need a HIV test?

2) Is there a possibility to be infected with HIV with PROTECTED vaginal sex with the contact with the vagina and the base of the penis, which is not covered with the condom? I saw my sperm in the tip of the condom, and I guess that is a signal that it didn't break.

3) And to be infected with mutual masturbation, with the same hand that touch vagina, touching the penis, seconds after? Is that possible?

Thank you very much.

You did the right thing by wearing a condom for penetrative sex. That is ALL you need to to to avoid HIV infection.

Your shaved testicles are irrelevant. The little sore in your mouth is irrelevant. Vaginal fluids on the base of your penis are irrelevant.

On a male in a heterosexual situation, the vulnerable area is the opening at the tip of the penis, and in uncircumcised males, possibly the tender, semi-permeable head of the penis.

Covering those with a condom is all you need to do to avoid HIV infection.

While I think every sexually active adult who is not in a mutually monogamous relationship ought to have a complete STD panel done at least twice a year, I absolutely do not think you need to test over the events as you described them.

Thanks for your fast and detailed answer. And how about the viral pharyngitis? In a internet search I saw that it could be an ARS symptom. Even with that, can I consider my activities safe regarding the HIV?

Thanks for your kind help.

It cannot have anything to do with ARS because you never had a risk and the only people that get ARS are those that are infected.

Is there any documented case about a infection that ocurred in the scenario that I gave? A protected vaginal sex in diferent positions, but with a unprotected oral and mutual masturbation?

Is there any risk that I could be forgeting in sex scenario?

No. Why? You never had an exposure. HIV is transmitted by;
Unprotected penetrative anal and/or vaginal sex
Sharing works with other IV drug users
Mother to child

Tom, you have absolutely no cause for concern about HIV based on what you have reported. Risk is not about whom you are with but what you do with your partner(s). In this case you did not do anything which put you at risk for HIV.

Let it go and get on with your life. Really.

If there were any documented infections through the activities you mentioned, then we would certainly not be calling them no risk for HIV.
