Blizzard coming to Connecticut
« on: February 07, 2013, 09:57:23 AM »
Looks like a big one!
Local forcasters say parts of Connecticut and Massachusettes could get 30" of snow.
Blizzard conditions likely with wind gusts up to 65 mph.

I was here in 1978 and it was incredible.
The entire state was shut down for 3 days.
Highways looked like parking lots.

Boston might hit an all time record snowfall.

Yikes! :o

Good grief I have never seen that much snow fall in any one day, and I lived in Scotland when we used to get snow falls for months at a time.

If we had a fraction of that amount of snow it would be a major disaster here . We have a few salt trucks to handle overpasses on the roadways but this city would come to a halt until it melted because there would be no way to remove it . I suppose it would be about as bad there if there were abandoned cars everywhere . I love a bit of snow but god help us if we got that much .

I remember that 1978 Blizzard.  My home town in RI got the mother load........   54" of snow.  We were shut down for weeks and equipement was flown in from Buffalo, NY.  The forecast that day was for a few inches!
My mother is freaking out over this current one.....  Fortunately, my brother lives with her.
Stay safe an warm, Mitch

Storm :  NEMO

We'll be thinking of all of you, and wishing for the best ! Hopefully your power won't go out.
Stay warm.

Reminds me of all those years (28) living in the Western New York snow belt, before I moved to Florida. We never lost power that often ( looking back) , but we had our water pipes freeze up many times !

Is it too late to get down here to Florida?  8)

I knew that Mitch, but still it's one hell of a snow fall, we never got anything that bad in Scotland, there were some years we had it almost knee deep.

Stay safe and fingers crossed it doesn't turn out like the 1978 one.
