Good question. I recall being told when I "signed up" via phone that a renewal in December would be required. However, nothing has arrived in the mail.

I will be calling the pharma firms as I did to start the process.

Depends on the medication and the specific program you're on. My Truvada automatically renews until 2015. My Isentress was only good for 12 fills so I needed to call and get a new card. I would call the program telephone number, give them your card info and ask where you stand

Indeed.  Mine has been good for (I think) more than two years.  When I was forced to use OptumRX they asked me if I had a copay assistance card and I just gave them the number.  It has worked well thus far.

I called Atripla Copay Assist and the told me that my card was good until December 2013, at the end of this year.  I swear they told me the same thing last year (that it would expire December 2012).  Has anyone ever actually had their card turned off?

Do they really expire?

How about my pharmacy took care of everything for me, signing me up etc. I probably should call them to see if I need to sign up myself or if they will handle it again.

An odd question here but I am on an ADAP program and have private health insurance. ADAP takes care of my copays.
Was just thinking if I were to get a card and used it, would it save the ADAP program money?

Gilead's co-pay assistance program specifically states it's for use by individuals on 'private insurance' only.  I remember when I called to activate my card it specifically asked if I was on any government backed program which would disqualify me for their program.

Not sure what medication you're on, but it sounds like the co-pay assistance is not for use on government paid programs.

When I started (10/2012) on Complera I was told that the assistance program was good for 12 months and then I would need to re-apply.  Gilead sent me a letter shortly after signing up stating that I would need to re-apply at the end of 2012.  I called stating that I needed to re-apply and was told that the program that I was enrolled in was good until the end of December 2014.   1 thing when I called the individual that I talked to asked me my card number.  I was given all the information when I signed up for the pharmacy to file my claims but I have never been sent a card.  Has anyone else not received a card?

Initially I was not given a card either - they said it would be sent out, but I never received it. I did have all of the info that would have been on the card written down (they provided it over the phone when I signed up).

When I renewed, I told them I had never been sent a card and they sent one out to me. I have never had to use it, as the pharmacy has all of the info in their system; however, I still keep it in my wallet, just in case it is ever asked for.  If you call them and tell them you never received a physical card, they should be able to confirm your address and send one out to you.

When I apply for patient assistance for my clients one of the requirements is that they sign up for ADAP.  If a person is eligible for ADAP they generally are not for patient assistance through the pharmaceutical companies.

Co pay cards do expire. And if yours has expired, most pharmaceutical companies have a 1800 number for patients to call so that the required info can be obtained so that the patient can continue their scrips without a gap! And some companies have the co pay card info avail to be printed off the Internet!
