Very worried about exposures, help and advice needed please!
« on: September 18, 2015, 05:43:06 PM »
Hi I am very worried of infection with myself and there are 3 instances that are bothering me, 3 potential exposures that I would like some clarity on them because no PEP shots were done about them when I told people but they were very real. I waited a while before talking about them and its gotten to the point where I am seeking advice. thank you for reading my post, its very much appreciated.

Exposure 1: I was at the dentist and upon walking to my room in the dentist office hallway I tried to avoid a dentist walking by me holding some sort of device that I thought was contaminated. Upon doing so I accidentally walked into another room as I was avoiding the person. The room was open so naturally I meandered in there and when the coast was clear I went back in the hallway. Upon doing so a patient was being operated on and a syringe was just laying on one of the tables the dentists were using! I freaked out because I literally was next to it. I kept thinking I got poked by it and couldnít calm down because I didnít ask for that to happen. To this day I have no idea if I was poked or now, when I left the room I think the syringe was still on the table but nonetheless it was most likely already used and I was so upset.

Exposure 2: About 3 months ago again I was on vacation in California and was in Hollywood. I was in actually a bad area of Hollywood and I was walking with my mom and a friend on the sidewalk. I saw what appeared to be a syringe cap and I was freaking out. I also saw a condom container like I think it was one of those cardboard packages that can hold one condom or up to three but I am not entirely sure. However to me it looked like a used condom was inside and it was on my path and I couldnít avoid it without going extremely near it. I didnít want to look like an idiot either. Well we went and got food and had to return to the friends house so we walked past the things again and my foot was right on the container because I was trying to avoid the needle cap initially. Upon going inside the friends house I noticed I had two wounds I never noticed on my ankle, they were two circular wounds that looked like it could have been from a needle. So on top of worrying I stepped on a needle I was worrying that I got a fresh wound (possibly deep) and when I stepped on condom the fluids went inside. However at no point did I scream out in pain when I was walking.

Exposure 3: almost 4 weeks ago I was with a woman and we were at my place hooking up.her status was unknown and although we never had sex she gave me a blowjob after I fingered her. Her fluids were all over the place and I touched my penis right after fingering with the same hand. Naturally I wouldnít do something like this but I was caught up in the moment. At one point she was dry humping on top of me and I thought my penis came out of my pants cause it was slipping out and I was worrying it accidentally went inside her vagina because her yoga pants may have slipped too. But theres no risk if she had fluid go through her yoga pants (she wasnít wearing underwear) and onto my penis? The thing that is really worrying me however is that when she left my house I found a used bandage from her that was bloody on my nightstand. I didnít notice is and I was worrying that when she removed it from any part of her body that my penis touched either the part on her body that was bleeding still, or my penis touched the bandage cause it was right next to me on my nightstand, or both. Also the bandage was next to my razors and I went and shaved and even bled all over my face and neck and upon returning to my room I realized the mysterious thing where my razors were was a bandage she just left randomly there. I was upset because I didnít ask for that and I literally did something I would never do, shaving my face that originally touched blood. I eventually disposed of the bloody bandage with my own bare hands (something I would never do without cbt therapy) and threw it in my garbage and 3 weeks later I finally emptied my bin.

Now I have been thinking about all 3 of these potential exposures and its been 3 months since the first 2 I mentioned, and almost 4 weeks since the last one. I do not want myself to end up looking stuff on the internet because I know how my ocd works so I am trying to avoid this. I hope you can see the reason that I am worrying. I am worried about hiv/hep c coinfection, and there doesnít seem to be a consensus on it even after reading up a lot on it in the past. I am worried that I am getting ARS symptoms and if the ARS symptoms are delayed then that would also mean testing would be delayed I would guess. Its random that lets say 3 months after my exposure that I have random rash on my chest and neck, sore throat, and mouth wounds (about 3 in mouth) like ulcers I guess, and all of these are symptoms of ARS. Its just weird that all of these things are happening at the same time which is why I am worrying. I have tried very hard to not worry about any of this but I cant help but worry this time and I really donít want to relapse and spend so much time researching so this is why I am coming here. I had some questions and I hope they can get cleared up.

1)   What are your thoughts on HIV/Hep c coinfection from blood (needles at dentist office, on sidewalk, from a woman I saw) delaying test results? I saw there was one report where it did delay results that people refer to but I think I remember seeing the two doctors on medhelp (or at least H hunter handsfeld) say that it doesnít happen. HHH (H hunter handsfeld doctor of medhelp) said that people who have ARS symptoms will test positive within 2-3 weeks and im wondering that if delayed seroconversion was possible could I be experiencing delayed ARS symptoms even 3 months later since there is a 2-3 week span of getting symptoms to when I would test positive?

2)   Can I get HIV from any of these exposures mentioned? I have been freaking out about all of these.

3)   Are the symptoms I present, the combination of all of what I mentioned, are they indicative of HIV through the exposures I mentioned, even the one that happened relatively recently, that was 3 weeks ago? I understand this is in the timeframe for ARS symptoms to even happen which is why I am worrying.

4)   If HIV hep c coinfection is real, when can I get tested? I read somewhere the 4th gen duo test is good at 4 weeks but no where did anything say anything about coinfection window period. Also taking into account again with coinfection delaying seroconversion and since my symptoms may have been delayed I am worried I wont believe a negative test result. I really really do not want to wait 6 months so in like February or march to get a test.

5)    I also wanted to add that with the woman i was with when we were hooking up I also took my penis out and humped her bare breasts, in other words i titty fucked her. and i am worrying also about milk from the breasts getting into my penis. is this possible as well?

Thank you so much for bearing with me on this, please can someone point me in the right direction here, especially concerning the coinfection worries? Thanks!

Hi ,
As for exposure number one.....You can not be infected with HIV walking past
something you believe to be contaminated or a used syringe .

Exposure number two .....You can not be infected by walking past a piece of
cardboard with a possible used condom and a syringe.

Exposure number three....
HIV is sexually transmitted through anal or vaginal intercourse.
nobody but you knows if your penis slipped out of your pants and into hers.
If you suspect you had unprotected intercourse you need to be tested.
Guidelines for testing are at six weeks and three months.

You need to see a doctor about your symptoms and to get the appropriate tests.
Good Luck , Wade

i know i cannot get infected from walking past something, but what are the risks is i had been pricked by accident? what are the risks for exposure two if i had a fresh wound on my foot if i stepped on condom? i had a fresh wound on my ankle with the exposure number 2 and i didnt know if fluids in a condom can go into a fresh wound like that. are their risks from stepping on a used syringe?

I am getting my phobia worked on but i hope someone can understand the stress i am going through so i do appreciate the responses. since i only have one more post left i would appreciate if someone can give more advice on my worries. I guess its really just the first two exposures i think about. what about hiv hep c coinfection delaying seroconversion?

I really would like to move on. thank you

We do care about your stress but we can not address your concerns as if they are credible. You need the help of a mental health specialist that can address your illogical fear of HIV.

If we engage you in conversation and answer you it means we are enabling your mental health condition and that is not fair to you or us. Please go get help.
